‘High-risk’ animal killer plans to live in Vancouver, public warned

B.C. Corrections released a warning Monday about a “high-risk” violent offender who has been released from prison and plans on living in Vancouver.

Kayla Bourque, 23, is a former Simon Fraser University student who pleaded guilty last fall to “causing unnecessary pain and suffering to an animal, killing or injuring an animal, and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose,” the notification reads.

You'd think somewhere in the US would be preferred, where they can legally buy AR-15s and become world famous overnight. :rolleyes:

@Glaucus,

well.... there are a lot of vulnerable homeless people on the streets of Vancouver. Given her stated ambition, it makes sense she'd like to live here.

Why the shot at the US?

1) AR-15 would not cause "unnecessary pain and suffering to an animal". An AR-15 would kill the animal quickly. Did you read the article to see what her weapon of choice was?

2) I thought you liked the huggy-feel good prison system that turns these sort of people out into the general public?

3) Clearly we should ban knives since it was her weapon of choice?

4) A cat is a domestic pet. It is clearly established that domestic pets have a large carbon footprint and are bad for the environment . Shouldn't you just be happy? Consider Kayla Bourque a green hero! Killing a domestic pet is almost as noble as killing an unborn baby!

@Fluffy, Ya, I know. I once heard someone describe the West Coast as the sort of place that attracts the dreamers. And those who pray on them. In Vancouver's case it's also the mentally ill let down by the system. Good point.

@Red, ya, it was a shot, but I didn't intend for it to be taken that seriously. Sorry. But I can kinda relate to her. My (wife's) cat makes me wanna send it on a one way journey to the bottom of the river. Unfortunately for me it seems our little one has taken a liking to that four legged varmint and I guess I'm stuck with her now!

In Vancouver you can be footloose and fancy free ..
you just have to put a toe in the water ...
