The people of Greece have been told that the privatization of their public sector is the only solution. And those of Italy, Spain and Portugal are facing the same threat.
They should look to Iceland. Refusing to bow to foreign interests, that small country stated loud and clear that the people are sovereign.
That’s why it is not in the news anymore.

Pesky, liberal media. ;-)

Greece never had a financial sector collapse, and it's banks are still holding their ground. It's the government that ran out of money. Overall, the problems of the two nations are different. Interestingly, Iceland had it's own currency, something many said would have saved Greece. It's not easy to compare countries, there are so many factors involved.

Be that as it may, handing Greek sovereignty over to the IMF might not be the best solution for the majority of Greeks.

It might but then again, it might not.

Pesky liberal media is out there demanding impeach of Bush's illegal and immoral attacks on the sovereign soil of Libya. Oh wait, it's Obama and they aren't. Funny that.
And when it was Bush and Iraq, they didn't. Funny that.

Leaving the Euro is still an option. Getting back what you sell is not going to happen unless you can engineer a financial crisis for the guys that buy it. That's what financial crises are for - but Greece has no real power to create one for other people but it falls for the same plundering scheme as all of the South American countries - and they tend to fall for it because the leaders are overthrown by their (US trained) military or they die when they don't cooperate.

Socialism is not itself the problem. The problem is that socialism makes it difficult for raiders to take advantage. That's why they get attacked. Countries that volunteer for rape are hailed as success stories - like Ireland, for example.

Many Greeks consider leaving the Euro, devaluing it's currency and becoming nothing more then a popular tourist destination a form of state prostitution.

Another important thing to consider, something most Greeks understand but it seems most people who talk about the situation completely miss, is the EU/Euro has given Greece a political weapon. Nations like FYROM for example, would like to enter the EU and possibly the Eurozone (and NATO), but Greece has so far done all it can to block it for political reasons. Similarly, Turkey's entrance to the EU/Euro is conditional on certain issues like Cyprus. This gives Greece the power to do things it simply couldn't do otherwise (ok, I guess Greece could invade FYROM, a move that would be quite popular in Greece, but that still leaves the Cyprus issue unresolved). This too must be put into the formula.
