Occupy Wall Street called on the masses to skip work and school on May 1, and to close their wallets. All this was supposed to amount to a general strike, if not an American Spring. Some even talked about bringing down capitalism. But the small demonstrations in many American cities and in other cities across the world had little effect.

I wasn't in favour of a general strike and I suspect that many other people don't see it as the right approach either. The country is fractured and so a general strike is not likely but a general strike would also be more divisive. People need to get to their sh** jobs so they can keep their homes/cars whatever and general strikes just make enemies of the people who should be your friends. Marching is not where most of the activism is - besides peaceful protest is just a magnet for uniformed thugs.

Of course OWS is now a failure, it no longer helps Obama's popularity. This was astro-turfed by AdBusters and other Soros funded (directly or indirectly) organizations after the public became aware on just how huge the deficit has grown to and continues to grow: http://usdebtclock.org/ Wow, just $31M until it rolls over $15.7T in national debt. Fuzzy, how about Canada floating the US a loan for $30T? Just to hold Obama over another four years, he'll make sure it's all paid back, eventually. ;)

AdBusters doesn't astroturf, they culture jam which is different and more fun. AdBusters is based right in my home town and we've been seeing their stuff for years. Does this "ad" look Obama friendly to you?

Yes, the Auto Bailout was mainly Bush's baby.

On that subject, as bad as the auto bailout was it is a drop in the bucket compared to the bank bailout (which was both Bush and Obama baby). As bad as the bank bailout was, it is nothing compared to the stealth bailout in QE3 which is 100% Obama. When a gallon of milk is $30 and a gallon of gas is $50 by the end of the decade, will people still blame Bush?

Thanks red. That was priceless.

By the way, the fact that occupy thing didn't go big is that the state apparatus is at work trying to prevent much from happening. I doubt that it's just the NYPD. The crackdown last year was widely coordinated through various state and federal branches of the security apparatus.

Your history being skewed by the liberal mainstream media?
Bush announces $17.4 billion auto bailout

Keep in mind I was against this bailout.

They better be careful or drug using, metro sexual looking, unemployed college grads with massive student loans might replace white men wearing tea bags on the terror watch list.

The point is that they are already on the watch list - just like all subversives - that is to say anyone who is a pacifist, union leader or organizer, tax protester, militia man, human right activist, anti-globalist, left wing author or speaker, etc. There are a lot of people who get extra attention at the airport these days and some of them can't fly at all. Can't have activists free to roam around the country spreading their crazy ideas about the country being run by money grubbing criminals.
