Woman raped at Occupy Glasgow camp

The 28-year-old was attacked at about 00:45 on Wednesday in George Square, at the protest camp.
The camp was set up on 15 October as part of an "anti-greed movement" taking place around the world.

Ten minutes walk from my house. Scant details so far but the first thing that sprung to mind was:
did none of the others camped there hear or see anything? Having walked by the site a couple of times that seems inconceivable.

Hope they catch the bastard sooner than later anyway.

Strange. Occupy Vancouver has been reporting that there seem to be people showing up that just want to cause trouble. Wonder if it's just the usual idiots or whether it's the usual idiots encouraged by the TV or whether it's something more.

Well, I hear stories of girls being raped at rock festivals and fold music festivals all the time. I'd say that's just the dark side of having really large groups of people all in one place for a while. For some, they see the large group as a chance at anonymity. I guess these types of events are like what they say about the West Coast: It attracts the dreamers - and those who prey on them.

I hear what you're saying but the thing is, it's not a very large group. Probably about 15 tents, if even that.
I doubt there are much more than 30 people camped there.
