Bitcoin and altcoins, anyone here following or use them?

Panthers' Russell Okung becomes first NFL player to be paid in bitcoin

"Money is more than currency; it's power," Okung said in a statement. "The way money is handled from creation to dissemination is part of that power. Getting paid in Bitcoin is the 1st step of opting out of the corrupt, manipulated economy we all inhabit."

How this all works is that The Strike product will get a direct deposit from the Panthers. They then will change out the dollar amount for bitcoin and give it it Okung.

Okung certainly isn't the first professional athlete to dabble into the world of crpytocurrency. Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie and unnamed members of the New York Yankees have received their salaries in bitcoin, according to Yahoo.

Well Pornhub announced accepting Verge, but there is talk that the actual partnership is with Mindgeek which is the parent company, but also a payment processor. That would be much bigger if proven true.

FWIW, Verge (XVG) turned out to be a complete "shitcoin", as basically ALL altcoins have turned out to be. Ethereum seems to be doing OK as it has a function and is not explicitly a cryptocurrency. Hopefully that specifically does not get them in trouble. Ripple is tanking as it is getting sued by the SEC (well DOJ, you get the point) for being an unregistered security. I'm fine with Ripple being sued, it's NEVER been a cryptocurrency. It's a security.

Dunno if anyone is still reading this.

Bitcoin over $28k. My most recent GPU mining rack hardware cost recovered after ~4 months. Will make back electric cost sometime next month for full ROI and into profit. All gravy after that. The mining hardware (primarily the GPUs, aka gfx cards) have not declined in value either, it's appreciated. They are selling used for higher than original MSRP.

Too bad I am such a small fish in a huge pond

I never followed through on my old mining-in-the-background thing from years ago. Gave up before it even made 0.1 of a coin. Glad to see you're heading into profit.

Back in the 2017-2018 timeframe I had my first mining rig and made quite the profit. Unfortunately, that same timeframe ended up being a financial nightmare for various reasons, and I had to cash out all of my profits to get by. This time I should be able to HODL (hold) the long term.
