Ok, now I'm officially terrified for the future of this country.

Having lost the socialist bastion that was Twitter to #elonmusk, the left is freaking out so hard that the Government of the United States (as currently dominated by the extreme left) is now going to Federalize network censorship everywhere so that they can decide what you see, hear, think, and say...

We don't know *who* decides what is considered "disinformation". We don't know what the penalties are for having independent (aka Conservative) thoughts, but presumably for a large armed force like the DHS -- as far as we know -- could result in anything between punitive action (fines, mass banning), to jail time...

If this regime is allowed to continue its intentional dive into Communism, the America we all know and love will be but a distant memory....

Count my words... As the First Amendment falls, the rest will be soon to follow...

Are you ready for the Disinformation Governance Board?

{EDITED a little bit to be less angry}

It's funny the same libs who used to defend Twitter by glazing their eyes over and saying "Twitter is a private company, it can do what it wants" now glaze their eyes over and say "we can't trust private companies to do what it wants, government must restrict free speech".

I was going to put this in the National Embarrassment thread, but I'll drop it here now.

'FLOUNDERING ON THE WORLD STAGE': RON DESANTIS EXPLODES ON BIDEN, PROMISES ACTION AGAINST 'MINISTRY OF TRUTH'

This may surprise you to know that Ron DeSantis, America's Governor, is not a fan of what critics call Joe Biden's "Ministry of Truth." No one knows what it is, including the White House. But from the name alone, the meltdowns over Elon Musk, and this administration's propensity for calling opinions with which they disagree "misinformation," you can draw a conclusion. DeSantis said as much as he addressed his opponent.

Did I say "opponent?" I mean the president. Joe Biden isn't Ron DeSantis's opponent. Yet.

This video could be a preview of what DeSantis might say if he found himself as an opponent of Joe Biden for elected office. He covered the Biden failures: gas prices, inflation, refusal to increase domestic energy production.

DeSantis touched on the more embarrassing things, like Biden floundering on the world stage, getting saved by the Easter bunny, and shaking hands with an invisible man. To be fair, an independent fact-checker claims there is a perfectly logical explanation for why it LOOKED LIKE Biden shook hands with air. While funny to us, DeSantis finds it sad. "It also is really negatively impacting people's lives."

Then there is Biden's Disinformation Advisory Board, which critics are calling Biden's Ministry of Truth. DeSantis says that Florida will be pushing back:

"They want to be able to put out false narratives without people being able to speak out and fight back. They want to be able to say things, like 'Russia collusion,' and perpetuate hoaxes and then have people like us be silenced. They want to be able to advocate for COVID lockdowns, they want to be able to advocate for school closures, things that are not supported by the evidence, but then when you speak out, they want to stifle dissent."

Joe Biden has yet to address his Disinformation Advisory Board. But then, Joe Biden has yet to address anything. His handlers try to avoid that.

Could go in at least 2 other threads, all tied together. From eyes glazed over "Twitter can do what they want as a private company" pre Elon massive censorship to "we are going to hell!!!!!11" for Musk ACTUALLY taking it private and suggesting restoring free speech. I've not been the biggest Musk fan historically, but he's a hero here. He's completed lifting the mask on the deep state and the deep state is freaking the eff out!

‘We Are Headed To Hell’: CNN Guest Blames Musk (And Trump) For Twitter Deal In Unhinged Rant

CNN media analyst David Zurawik blamed former President Donald Trump for “opening the gates of hell,” and said that billionaire Elon Musk could not be allowed to “control discourse in this country.”

Toward that end, Zurawik used a Sunday morning appearance on “Reliable Sources” to call for additional regulations to limit Musk’s power.
