Seems reasonable considering what "verified" is supposed to mean i.e. that the name of the tweeter is the verified name of the person posting. Elon does dumb things but enforcing the integrity of the "verified" mark and enforcing twitter's long standing rules against impersonation when not clearly marked as parody are not among those dumb things.
I don't have an issue with famous individuals and companies being "verified" (assuming its actually done properly so we KNOW for a fact it's the real entity)

the problem that elon created is that he "verified" people by just accepting their 8 bucks.
So, as SOON as he did that people paid the 8 bucks under a name that was another person, company, entity and played him for the fool that he is.

I could have told him people would do that because THAT is how Twitter plays. Frankly, it's one of the fun things about Twitter.
