A stipulation hidden away in the "committee comment" section of the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 requires the federal government to release an unclassified report about everything it knows about UFOs. The director of National Intelligence and the secretary of defense have less than six months to submit the report to congressional intelligence and armed services committees.

The report must contain a detailed analysis of all data and intelligence about "unidentified aerial phenomena" collected by the Office of Naval Intelligence, the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, and the FBI. Officials will also have to detail if the purported UFOs pose a national security risk or if other nations could be responsible for the unidentified objects seen in the sky.

While the report is supposed to be unclassified, it can contain a classified annex, making it likely that any evidence of extraterrestrial visitors will remain secret.

Pentagon confirms leaked photos and video of UFOs are legitimate​

Furthering the growing interest in unidentified flying objects, or what the US government refers to as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), the Department of Defense confirmed on Thursday that recently leaked photos and videos of UFOs were legitimate and taken by navy personnel.

Sue Gough, a spokesperson for the Pentagon, confirmed to CNN that images and footage of a blinking triangular object in the sky, along with other UAPs that were categorized as a “sphere”, “acorn” and “metallic blimp”, were taken by navy personnel in 2019.

Gough told CNN that the defense department would not comment further on the nature of the footage or share any examinations into them.

“To maintain operations security and to avoid disclosing information that may be useful to potential adversaries, DoD does not discuss publicly the details of either the observations or the examinations of reported incursions into our training ranges or designated airspace, including those incursions initially designated as UAP,” Gough said in the statement.

Last April, the Pentagon released three videos of UAPs taken in 2004 and 2015 that included audio of pilots amazed at the speed of the objects they were seeing. “Look at that thing, dude!” one pilot said. “It’s rotating!”

The release of the footage kicked off federal interest in investigating UAPs. In August, the defense department created a UAP taskforce following pressure from congressional lawmakers. In December, Congress passed its government funding bill that included a directive to the national intelligence director and defense secretary to release a report on UAPs in six months’ time.

Last month, Donald Trump’s former intelligence director John Ratcliffe teased the contents of the report, telling Fox News that the document would include unknown sightings from “all over the world”.

“Frankly, there are a lot more sightings than have been made public,” Ratcliffe said.

Per Congress’s spending bill, the UAP report must be published by early June to meet its deadline.

That's a weird one. Each of the 3 sets appear to be identical which is making me lean towards a reflection, refraction, or some other optical illusion. Be interesting to see if they get to the bottom of it.

Over the years, NASA has recorded vast amounts of footage of Mars, from photographs to videos to live streams from rovers. Well a South African researcher has been combing through some of it and uncovered something very peculiar in images from 2006 - what looks like a UFO that crashed on the Red Planet.

Jean Ward was going through footage taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter when he discovered the odd sight at the bottom of the Candor Chasma, a large canyon in Mars' Valles Marineris system, said to be the planet's equivalent of the Grand Canyon. In fact, it is considered the largest known canyon in the solar system, and it, Jean focused on what he called a "strange trench." At the end of the trench there is "a perfect disc" that is "mostly covered in sand and debris, and behind it, we have random dunes."


Ward goes on to note, "It looks like a disc-shaped craft or object came in at a very low angle and crashed into the surface of Mars leaving this strange behind it."

He then zooms in more on the disc-shaped object, which he surmises is 40-50 feet in diameter, pointing out that that is about the same width as the trench behind it. He adds, "It looks like a disc that's partially elevated on one side as it plowed into the surface."

While some commenters wrote off the discovery as a sand dune or space junk, others felt it was something much more significant, calling it a "great find" and writing things like, "There is really nothing else it could be, other than a crashed saucer shaped object. I know they are afraid of contamination but still, I wish NASA would investigate."

UFO Filmed By Airline Pilot Deemed A 'Genuine UFO'


Commenters seems to agree, and explain that the pilot was able to quickly zoom in on it because he had already seen it, kept his eye on it, grabbed his phone and knew where to film. Many feel the UFO is a probe sent to the planet to collect samples or conduct surveillance.

It is also interesting to note that Navy FA-18 fighter pilots saw similar cube-like UFOs at 35,000 feet a few years ago off the East Coast. The Department of Defense is still investigating what those objects were.

Meanwhile, Medellin is no stranger to sightings. The South American city has been witness to so many that it's been nicknamed "The New Roswell."
 
'Best Photograph Of A UFO Ever Taken' Has Experts Stumped

UFO sightings are not a new thing and it turns out, one of the best pictures of what could be a flying saucer was taken back in 1971. That year, a small plane flew over Costa Rica, photographing the terrain as part of a study by the country's National Geographic Institute. A 100-pound camera took dozens of photos at 20 second intervals from 10,000 feet in the air and one of them captured something very strange - a UFO.

When the pictures were developed, aerial photographer Sergio Loaiza noticed a shiny, round, metal, saucer-like object flying between the plane and a lake below. Neither he nor the others on the plane saw anything strange during the flight but based on altitude, the UFO is believed to be between 120 and 220 feet wide.

Sergio's bosses at the National Geographic Institute asked him and his colleagues not to discuss what they captured, but eventually they did and the image has since been studied and analyzed by experts, who have all concluded that the object in the picture looks real and was not caused by trick photography or a double exposure.

The photo was discussed in the recent New Yorker article "How the Pentagon Started Taking UFOs Seriously," and in the piece, New York Times reporter Leslie Kean is quoted as saying, "This photograph of a UFO may be the most extraordinary one ever released by government officials."

UFO research group UAP Media got a high-resolution version of the photograph that was produced from the negative and tweeted it out to show the object in more detail.

UFO experts are impressed with the image. One said, "It's a really intriguing photograph, and one which totally captures the imagination. I'm always impressed as to how 'right' it looks. As to its veracity, though, I can't say, but I'd love it to be true," while another stated, "In this instance we have an undoubtedly clear image - perhaps the clearest to date," and one other noted, "The fact that after 50 years it still hasn’t been conclusively proven or debunked is very interesting."

As yet, there is no explanation for what appears in the photo.
 

NASA hopes new study helps bring UFO research into the mainstream​

"The study will focus on identifying available data, how to best collect future data and how NASA can use these data to move the scientific understanding of UAPs forward," Thomas Zurbuchen, the associate administrator for science at NASA headquarters in Washington, said during today's call.

Or, in other words, "take a field that is relatively data poor and make it into a field that is much more data rich and therefore worthy of scientific investigation and analysis," he added.

Such work is very much in NASA's bailiwick, Zurbuchen said, noting that the agency's many research priorities cover, among other things, the hunt for alien life, investigating mysterious cosmic objects and phenomena and helping to keep American aircraft safe and secure. (The first "A" in NASA stands for "aeronautics," and UAP could represent a threat to planes and other aerial vehicles.)

And, like the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA is not afraid to put its name behind the push to demystify UAP. (The DoD has set up multiple UAP-studying task forces in the past few years, stressing that understanding the phenomena is important for national security purposes.)

"In a traditional type of science environment, talking about some of these issues may be considered kind of selling out or talking about things that are not actual science," Zurbuchen said. "I just really vehemently oppose that. I really believe that the quality of science is not only measured by the outputs that come behind it but also the questions we're willing to tackle with science."

Eerie Face On Rock Photographed On Mars By NASA​


NASA's Mars rover, Perseverance, has been rolling around the Red Planet for a year and a half, and during that time it has taken almost 300,000 images. Like its predecessor, the Curiosity, many of those photos are just of rocks and dust, but some have been a little bit more exciting. There have been pictures of things like an "alien boot," metallic wreckage, a flying UFO, a mysterious doorway, "alien arms," and what looks like an actual alien. Now, there is another strange image to add to the list - a rock with what looks like an eerie face carved into it.

An eagle-eyed Mars fan was able to spot the odd formation in a large photo of the Martian landscape. They posted it to Reddit with the title, "Interesting photo from Mars with a face or statue of some sort." In the shot, you can see a rock that does indeed look like it has a face on it, lying on its side in the sand.
