Rape Victim Gets 100 Lashes In Maldives Sentence

The rape victim sentenced to 100 lashes is currently 15 — and received eight months of house arrest in addition to the flogging for having premarital sex with another man. It is not known whether the second man faces any charges for his role in the sexual activities.

Sky News in the UK reports that the traumatized teen became pregnant by her stepfather, and that when the baby was born, the man killed and buried the child. The site explains:
“The girl’s stepfather is facing 25 years in prison for the rape and allegedly killing a baby conceived from it … Despite condemnation from the UN and Amnesty International, court officials have said the flogging will be carried out once the girl turns 18.”​

Well, it could be worse. But that's what happens when people believe that it was God that told them to do such things. Who wants to disobey a nasty and powerful bit of work like that? If it wasn't for believing that God demanded this they'd probably change such a stupid law pretty quick.
 
"retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2).

A parent (or grandparent) who kills his child (or grandchild) incurs no legal penalty under sharia law.

This thread is like that other one about the Jewish porn producers who own the planet - except it's about Islam. Same argument here, those who want to bash Islam will continue to post examples of only Muslims doing bad things. And they even sensationalize it by making it seem that the girl is being punished for being a rape victim when really she's being punished for something unrelated. Don't get me wrong, Sharia law is despicable and I think this is a human rights abuse issue, but it's clear from the title that the original poster saw this as an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. I mean, really, associating Obama to this is pretty ridiculous. About as ridiculous as using it to generalize about 1.2 billion people on the planet. :rolleyes:
 
Sharia law is indeed despicable. And when Christians had the same laws in their own societies they were done away with by ripping the government control away from the right-wing churches. The same needs to be done in the middle-east for their Abrahamic religious control. They're backwards because they didn't remove religion as their dictates on society. It's us in the West that are better because religion dictates on the individual instead of the society.

-- Turns out running this comparison test we do find differences. The root of these differences is Israel blasphemy laws no longer are derived from a religious book but from the 1929 by the British High Commission. It's not that Judism or Christianity is any better. All 3 are Abrahamic derived religions with common roots and common crimes. It's that by removing religion as the government force in the West we're improved the despicable conditions that arrive due to the use of religiously derived mandates.

The majority of Muslims in the USA are peaceful. There's probably some Muslim Terrorists here. Remember there are also Christian Terrorists here as well. It is this this neutral non-derived from a Godhead government that's the mitigating force that prevents the spiral that we'd see if Society foisted any Church as our government.

Separation of Church and State is a Christian concept, there is no separation of Church and State in Islam

A Christian concept? That sounds as if the Church decided to give up power and hand it over to secularists - and with full blessings just because irony is hip these days. Hardly. The Church went down kicking and screaming and still is actually.

One of the funniest statements I've heard in a long time. Separation of Church and State is a secular liberal concept (which is why so many fundies hate it and want to get God back into government). Church got separated from state so that people could run their own governments instead of having them run by Rome (or the English monarchy which carved off it's bit of Rome and made it its own state religion).
No religion has the concept of Church and State separation because all religions are governments, creators and enforcers of the laws.

It would be like objecting to the statement that blacks dominate in US basketball. They currently do but haven't always and probably won't always and intrinsically there is nothing wrong with that. However, you could find that simple statement to be derogatory if you believed that basketball was evil or degenerate. Otherwise it's just an observation.

Basketball is also dominated by tall people. That's something that probably won't change. Just another observation and not a slur against tall people.

True, but aren't you missing the bit about how the original clip about Jews and Porn was in the context of Porn == Evil? People don't need to be educated in math to understand the transitive property nor did I think that I'd need to explain it to you.
