Rep. Charles Rangel, once one of the most influential House members, was convicted Tuesday on 11 counts of breaking ethics rules and now faces punishment.

An ethics panel of eight House peers deliberated over two days before delivering a jarring blow to the 20-term New York Democrat's career. The 80-year-old Rangel was charged with 13 counts of financial and fundraising misconduct.

Only last spring, Rangel held the exalted post of Ways and Means chairman, a position that made him the House's main writer of tax legislation. The Harlem congressman was not present when the verdict was announced.

You just can't help yourself but to undermine any valid point you might make by embedding it in rabid rhetoric. What is the point red? Do you do it so that people to the left of Sarah Palin are put on the defensive? It's an idiotic gambit and it doesn't look good on you - and yet you always do it.

Gee, I didn't see any protest out of you when the rhetoric was against Bush.

Perhaps because most sane people (yourself included) knew that Bush was a travesty beyond words and pretty much summed up everything that was wrong with the GOP.

and who here has ever sung the praises of Rangel?

the rule of law seems to have worked (or is working). he did some dumb shit including misusing official stationary and property.

the problem with bush is that he has never been brought to trial like he should be for HIS WAR crimes. ......which actually KILLED people.

Rangel Found Guilty of Ethics Violations
The findings: said:
Mr. Rangel failed to accurately report his assets as required by House rules. Mr. Rangel improperly used a rent-stabilized apartment in Harlem as a campaign office, and he improperly used congressional staff and stationery to raise money for the college center. The panel found his actions brought discredit upon the House.

Most ethical Congress EVAH!
