Another year, another pledge to lose weight

The Atkins diet may better than no diet at all if you intend on being a lazy sloth sitting on the couch all day doing nothing. However, if you wish to be active, the Atkins diet may not be ideal as you do want more carbs and less protein in that case.

You don't have a clear understanding of what Atkins is.

Btw, fat consumption has been linked to things like colon cancer and blocked bile ducts.

Misconception.

Interesting comment. The first time I went on Atkins, I did the induction phase for about 3 months. I got to a point where I was worried because I wouldn't have a bowel movement for days or even weeks at a time. I wasn't constipated, there was nothing there.
jesus christ!!!! were you NOT eating at all???
that just doesn't sound right!

I mean, I realize that eating vegetables means the fiber gets, eh, excreted out.......were you having NO vegetables??

if that's the case I couldn't imagine that. i love veggies

Mini update. Monday next week will be one month, but I just had another mini whoosh so I feel like passing it on:) Earlier this week it looked like I was at a plateau at 255, flat from the week before. Today I am weighing in at a hair over 251. I try not not weigh myself too much, but every time I pass that darn scale at the grocery store I can't help myself:eek:

Soo.. I am down 19 pounds to date from my starting point (and at least 24 down from my heaviest). I will do some extra exercising this weekend to try to make it an even 20 by Monday. Speaking of exercise, all I am doing so far is taking long walks daily and riding an exercise bike a littlebit. When I say long walks I am walking 2-5+ miles a day at a brisk pace.

The first month is always fun, the weight just falls off. It will slow down from here. Hopefully I can drop 10lb the 2nd month and 4-5lb a month after that.

Walks are great for exercise. 5 miles... is that about an hour walk?

If I am by myself, I can do ~5 miles in just over an hour (and that is stopping to buy water at 7-11 half way). That is a really brisk pace. If I am with someone else it is closer to 1.5 hours as they can't keep up so I slow down. I like a brisk pace as it raises the hear rate.
