What a sad sad story. Not only are millions of men looking for affairs (I know that's probably a low ball number) which isn't the sad part per se, because humans are animals, but they thought that the internet could provide them a rich and secure hunting ground - which shows that humans are just DUMB animals (or at least men are).

The whole thing was a scam (and no surprise there) with almost all the female profiles being fake! What an awesome way to collect a bunch of names and credit card data from desperate fools who can then be scammed and blackmailed afterwards.

This is just the sort of site you'd expect to be run by organized crime or an intelligence operation.

Not being married, I never quite noticed Ashleymadison.com. I always presumed it was yet another "pay to view" porn star Web site, but yeah, given that 99% of the female accounts were fake, I'd suggest that grounds exist for a massive "give us back every single penny" class action, if not more for the security lapse...

Seems quite a few of these dating sites have the same issue - women won't touch them with a 10ft pole. So fake profiles are generated to drum up business.

The whole thing is hilarious and yet disappointing at the same time.

what's amazing is that most women KNOW this is a scam - which is one reason they don't join, and some men are so desperate they don't think it's a scam.

I've heard some ads for this site - it's always women doing VO's.....THAT alone is a dead give-away that's it's fake.

except (and this is the beauty of this kind of scam) the guys with the standing to sue don't want people to know who they are. If you were a mark ... erm ... "customer" and your wife hasn't checked for your name yet, do you want to sign up to the suit?

At this point, I think the whole pray and it'll go away plan is long over. Unless your partner is a complete Luddite, I can't see many who were connected to this site not taking the opportunity to grab whatever cash they can in order to bolster their diminished resources post divorce.

That's an interesting statistic I'd like to see.
