17 year old boy shot his 13-year-old sister in the back of the head after she hugged him on his 17th birthday, police say.
According to a Miami-Dade police report, Santiago was holding a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the kitchen of the home when a playful King hugged him. As King turned to walk away, Santiago pointed the gun at the back of her head and pulled the trigger, shooting her, police said. The accused shooter's life had already been marred by gun violence even before the Tuesday night tragedy. He had been arrested and jailed 18 times, mostly for robberies. His step-father, Vernon Williams, said he was at home during the shooting and so was Teddra’s mother Lakesha Bess, who held her daughter after she was shot.

Martaevious Santiago arrested on manslaughter charge in fatal shooting of 13-year-old sister Teddra King

"He said, 'Daddy, I'm sorry. It was an accident. I'm sorry, Dad,'" Santiago's stepfather, Vernon Williams, told Local 10 News.

I wonder how many other organisations and states have this figured out? Religions had this stuff nailed centuries ago, of course, but the idea, when used for real power, is usually to get your "suicides" to die killing the people who stand in your way.

religious Indoctrination can be either beneficial or harmful to society, it depends on what is being taught, because it reinforces the culture and cohesiveness of a nation

Now compare countries which have different majority religions ( state atheism is a religion )

which country, with what majority religion would you move to?

The founder of the Jimmy John’s restaurant chain denied that he is the person that posed naked humping a shark in a photo circulating social media Tuesday.

Jimmy John Liautaud is the latest high-profile figure to deny being the subject of the shocking photo, which started making the rounds on social media Friday, the Daily Mail reported.

Deadspin reported that Florida Gators football coach Jim McElwain also denied that he was the subject of the photo on Monday.

The photo has gained a lot of traction on social media, with many users wondering who is the man in the photo.

“Who is this man? Please RT, find him & ask him why he did this? Where is the humour in humiliating slaughtered animals?” British wildlife TV presenter Anneka Svenska asked on Twitter Friday.

Are you saying that atheism is a religion (it is not) or that "state atheism" is a religion - in which case how? And what the heck do you mean by the phrase, that the State replaces Deity as an object of worship and if so, how does that differ from a state that claims to be the representative on Earth of a Deity?

which country, with what majority religion would you move to?
I like those atheist states (that is, those states where the majority of people have no religion) because they tend to have longer life expectancy, lower infant death rates and more equitable and better quality of life overall.

atheism is a religious belief in no deity, no standard of morality
anti-religion is still a religion

Your inability to comprehend that having no religion does not make you religious does not constitute evidence for your religion.

Saying otherwise would be like saying that if you don't believe that Osiris is real then that means that you have a version of ancient Egyptian religion. If you don't believe that Mohammad is the last messenger of Allah then you are a KIND of Muslim.

Interesting cherry pick. Of course you could have gone with all sorts of European countries like Sweden and France and the United Kingdom ... or even Israel which has a surprisingly large percentage of people who claim to have no belief in a deity.

something is a religion if it has a position on the divine and/or the afterlife.

they all have a position on the divine and/or afterlife, so they are religions
Things that aren’t religions under this definition include mathematics, physics, Sports, ...

are any of those countries MAJORITY atheist?

Sweden is 87% Lutheran ( Christian )
France is 65% Roman Catholic ( Christian )
UK is 60% Christian ( Total of all Christian denominations )
Israel is 74% Jewish

therefore you prefer to live in a majority Christian nation

Nice theory, but in reality it never seems to work out in practice. In the modern day western societies, Atheists are the most rabid evangelizers out there. They aren't content to just believe that there is no such thing as a God, but they must go out and preach to convert the Christian/Jew heathens. Strangely they are usually quiet about other religions, but that's another story for another post. They are overtaking Jehovah Witnesses as the most annoying religion.

I'm a perfect example. I simply identify as Agnostic, and these days that works Atheists up until they are frothing at the mouth. Even here on Whyzzat I've been accused of "copping out" by Atheists for being Agnostic.

Atheists have groups, they have meetings and they aggressively evangelize. It is a religion to them.

Here's an article not from Breitbart or Newsmax, but from uber-left wing Salon.

Atheism starts its megachurch:

The non-religious Assembly is perhaps the fastest growing church in the world -- and it's coming to a mall near you

Organized Atheism is now a franchise.

Yesterday, The Sunday Assembly—the London-based “Atheist Church” that has, since its January launch, been stealing headlines the world over—announced a new “global missionary tour.” In October and November, affiliated Sunday Assemblies will open in 22 cities: in England, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, the United States and Australia. “I think this is the moment,” Assembly founder Sanderson Jones told me in an email last week, “when the Sunday Assembly goes from being an interesting phenomenon to becoming a truly global movement.” Structured godlessness is ready for export.

The Assembly has come a long way in eight months: from scrappy East London community venture (motto: “Live Better, Help Often and Wonder More;” method: “part atheist church, part foot-stomping good time”) to the kind of organization that sends out embargoed press releases about global expansion projects. “The 3,000 percent growth rate might make this non-religious Assembly the fastest growing church in the world,” organizers boast.

There’s more to come: In October, the Sunday Assembly (SA) will launch a crowdfunded indiegogo campaign, with the ambitious goal of raising £500,000 (or, about $793,000). This will be followed by a second wave of openings. “ The effort reads as part quixotic hipster start-up, part Southern megachurch.

Atheism is a religion, plain and simple.

There are atheist sects, there are atheist cult leaders, there are atheist gospels and holy books, there are atheist evangelists

you have the “New Atheists” who argue over which guru is most enlightened: Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris or Christopher Hitchens

now you have the new "Atheist Plus" sect which combines "Social Justice" and atheism

atheism is a religion, it's just a double negative on the divine and/or afterlife religion versus traditional double positive religions

Atheism is a religion, plain and simple.
So ... having meetings makes you a religion? Cool. Really thought it might take a bit more than that but seems I'm wrong, huh? Don't have to believe in any greater power outside of yourself, don't need to believe in things that can't be proven (especially if they can't be proven). Seems a bit of a low bar, perhaps even insultingly low to those serious about their religions but I guess the joke's on them.
