Canada vs Iran

At the end of the day those who defeat him will be the heroes and pass on their genes to the next generation and the losers will be dead and forgotten. If they're smart they'll act to preserve themselves and bring in some form of democratic system. If not, they too will likely share the same fate as Assad. It's the way of the dictator.
The psychopaths and the ruthless will pass on their genes and this will bring Democracy? It's only long periods of relative peace and prosperity that do that - or the outside imposition of a form of vassal government dressed up to look somewhat like democracy.

i suspect it is as u say,tho u guys arent exactly coalition of the willing ,in the end, we all pay. and it extracts from some their blood, while others are rewarded with the false promises of those who sent them...

That last part may be generally true, but I'd argue that it's simply not possible when you have rule by a small minority. Perhaps if Syria was ethnically homogenous the situation would be as you say, but it's not. So long as there's that Shia/Sunni divide there's virtually no chance of equality ever. And since no group voluntarily gives up power it needs to be taken away. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Middle East is the way it is in large part to how the British drew the maps many decades ago. Pogroms, massacres and wars have helped settle things a bit, but there's still lots of work to do.

Well, it worked ok for Japan and Germany. But I admit those are probably exceptional cases.

prosperity doesnt really bring peace. its an illusion. what usually brings peace is complacency. those days are kind of over. when your country cant hawk its wares, it has a surplus. those look fine to families but in the corporate world its called stagnation in growth. we did all that... a couple times... we opened new markets, and our economy boomed. we stagnated, invaded another market... and had another boom...well the worldwide market is pretty much wide open now... no big booms left for any of us really... now we get to fight for control... and even that is unstainable as after its over, the aftermath? well its the same untenable position we were in ten times before, save only now, no more markets to open.

China is a new market but so far has proven difficult for US companies.

china, imho, is a pipe dream... no respect for intellectual property rights and prone to counterfeiting... they represent a boom to no nation not even their own... but as i said.. thats just me... and let's suppose we bust that market wide open... still no good...only last so long anyway... we have peaks and plateaus and then more of the same, but its pretty much close to done. even at best we could only break even, and that'd look great on the books, but reality is always far different. we break even, china loses, or some other nation. then we're right back where we started, jingoism from the shorted nation leading to more war. then we kill each other, blow up a bunch of stuff and create a "new" market for "growth". its kind of obscene no?
