A beer truck flipped over on a roadway overpass in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Monday, prompting local officials to comment on the tragedy.

"It is sad," Capt. Scott Logan of the Halifax Regional Fire Service (search) told The Daily News of Halifax. "Chances are they won't recover any of the beer."

The truck, hauling 46,368 bottles of Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale (search), skidded to a stop against the overpass's guardrail, luckily avoiding a 50-foot plunge down to another road.

Surely this recent testimony alleging political corruption would be enough to turn Canadians off the Liberal party, right?

As much as I'd like to think so, I doubt it.

Canadians, especially those outside Alberta, are hardened to political corruption and sleaze. Most voters might get angry when politicians do something corrupt, stupid or unfair but, as Canadians, they're not ones to channel that feeling into doing anything radical.

It's just not in the nature of Canadians to do anything radical - and to many Canadians, turfing the Grits for the Tories would indeed be a radical move.

Canadians, especially those outside Alberta, are hardened to political corruption and sleaze. Most voters might get angry when politicians do something corrupt, stupid or unfair but, as Canadians, they're not ones to channel that feeling into doing anything radical.

It's just not in the nature of Canadians to do anything radical - and to many Canadians, turfing the Grits for the Tories would indeed be a radical move.
