So how's that middle class white privilege working out for you Red?
I don't know, why not tell me what your TV says it is working out?
BTW, who says I am white? Did I?
So how's that middle class white privilege working out for you Red?
Neither the article or the video mentions anything about the use of the word "cracker".
Didn't mean to ruffle your feather Red. I know racism goes both ways, I'm not denying that. I know about flash mob beatings and it's a real problem. But here's the thing, even that doesn't compare to institutionalized racist hate. Having your face punched sucks. Having your life categorized sucks much more. Hate breeds hate and racism breeds racism. That means you can never use someone else's racism to justify your own racism.
Here's the thing, institutionalized racism against blacks is not deep in 2011. At least, it is no more deep than institutionalized racism against whites in other areas. No offense, but living in lily white Winnipeg (2% black) and watching TV does not give you a clear understanding of the racial situation in the US.
YOU are the one who sounds content to start a race war. Granted it was probably an off the cuff remark, but your remark about blacks shooting random whites does trigger a reaction in me. Black people are not just some people you have only read about in print or seen on TV like it is in Winnipeg. They are my neighbors, friends and relatives. The demographics of Fort Lauderdale is much closer to parity between black (31%) and white (52%).
Without getting into details, I have a close family member who has been repeated targeted due to his complexion and the fact he is engaged to someone of a different skin color. He has even been assaulted to the point of having a broken tooth. Sounds like something you wouldn't shed a tear over, right? Maybe he should have just been shot?
That's right Red, we're not just white here, but lily white, so kneel before me! But seriously, Winnipeg is not what you might think it is. Although not too many blacks, we sure have a fair share of everything else. But mostly what white people here fear the most are the natives, especially in the downtown area. There is very much a divide between the two groups and the racism definitely goes both ways. I could elaborate if you like, but the point is that racism certainly exists here too and if you're not aware of it, it's probably because you just watch too much TV or something (that's a joke). Here's the thing, institutionalized racism against blacks is not deep in 2011. Sure it was off the cuff, but it was also not what you seem to think. I wasn't trying to insight violence, I was just surprised there isn't more violence. Like I said, in other parts of the world people don't stand up to that shit. I remember when some police officers shot and killed a black couple on their way to (or from?) their own wedding. Were there riots in the streets? Did the city burn? Did it turn into a war zone? Nope. But at the same time, Athens burned when a cop accidentally shot a kid in a poor part of town. And I think year later Paris burned when a similar thing happened there. You see what I'm saying here? For some reason the under privileged in America just shrug it off, but not so elsewhere. Whyzzat?YOU are the one who sounds content to start a race war. Granted it was probably an off the cuff remark, but your remark about blacks shooting random whites does trigger a reaction in me.
Huh? Either I mistyped in my original post or you misread, but I said I wouldn't shed a tear for a dead racist. Your friend doesn't sound like a racist to me and neither do you. Why would you say that?Without getting into details, I have a close family member who has been repeated targeted due to his complexion and the fact he is engaged to someone of a different skin color. No worries. I wouldn't say you were any harsher than I am at times.Mike, after re-reading this I see I was a bit harsh. Sorry for that. This is a subject that does push buttons in me.
The policy has drawn a firestorm of criticism in just a few days and sent church leaders scrambling to overturn it, perhaps as early as Sunday. The executive secretary of the church's national organization said he has been inundated with angry phone calls, and had an inch-high stack of emails printed out on his desk.
"We are not a group of racist people," said Keith Burden of the National Association of Free Will Baptists. "We have been labeled that obviously because of the actions of nine people."
...and now the "problem" is worse than before...
guess what mr burden, if you don't speak out against racists...you ARE a racist."We are not a group of racist people," said Keith Burden of the National Association of Free Will Baptists. "We have been labeled that obviously because of the actions of nine people."
Oh? You said so about genders:No, you don't.
But seriously, gay marraige is a very touchy subject. I see both sides of the argument.
Oh? You said so about genders:
I just want to point out I'm getting mixed signals from you.I already said I am not against gay marraige. That isn't enough for you?
