Climate Change - Is the Tide Turning?

A fair question. My belief is based upon several things but for a short summary, I give you the wikipedia list of scientists who disagree with Global Warming. Much of my thoughts on this topic are covered in pretty good detail on this list. I include geologic record, solar activity and other topics.
This handful at least seems to have attempted some work. Of course what isn't covered here is if thier work has been validated or nullified. IMO until we see that the list is about as valuable as the 600+ scientists that oppose evolution and support 'God did it'. There's more of those so certainly they must be more correct.

That's a fair statement if somewhat "tongue in cheek". Still, I don't see the global warming skeptics being any less correct. I certainly think that the reported loss of the raw data by CRU isn't helping them. In fact (my opinion) the loss of that data may make it impossible to reproduce the warming models that are so highly touted / regarded by the (man made) global warming alarmists.

Wow, this stuff is dynamite!

That scientists at the heart of the IPCC have conspired with their colleagues across the world about how to get out of releasing "unhelpful" data requested using Freedom of Information laws is incredible and worrying.

A climate-change sceptic couldn't make up this stuff up

It would seem that this "homogenised" data has past years' temperatures revised downward so it shows an increase over time. This is a bigger scam than WMDs! Can I have my tax-pounds back now please?

Modern day robber barons, they should be thrown in prison.

Global warming merely a political hoax

http://www.thevoyager.net/opinion/globa ... -1.2108384

According to economics professor and syndicated columnist Walter Williams, in March of this year “more than 700 international scientists went on record dissenting over man-made global warming claims.”

He goes on to state that 31,500 American scientists, including 9,029 with Ph.D.s, have signed a petition that states that there is no convincing evidences that human caused global warming is a major issue in the foreseeable future.

In fact, according to an email an internal report by Alan Carlin, an EPA analyst who criticized the EPA’s position on global warming, was squelched for political reasons.

The fact is that temperatures over the past ten years indicate that the earth has been cooling and not warming.

Yaaa! This is fun!!!

Al Gore confronted on ClimateGate in Chicago

http://www.prisonplanet.com/al-gore-con ... icago.html

First up was Saad Ali. As he approached Gore, he peacefully and respectably asked, “Sir, can you comment on the emails and documents that were hacked [ClimateGate] that reveal… that the research was a fraud and that it was all manipulated?” Gore, with an evil smirk, claimed that “he never read them.” By the look on his face and his stutter, it became quite clear that Gore was extremely uncomfortable with the question, so he quickly glared towards his security. The agents grabbed and assaulted Saad, escorting him away from Gore for merely asking a simple question. The press took notice and started filming and snapping pictures of what was going on. One of which appeared the next day in the Chicago Sun Times.

Following Saad’s confrontation, Sati Word, a member of WAC Chicago, questioned Gore on why the IPCC hasn’t released any reports on sunspot activity. However, before he could get an answer from Gore, security grabbed Sati and escorted him out of the building.

A little while later, Anthony, an activist from We Are Change Ohio, approached Gore and handed him the petition of the 31,486 scientists who say that Global Warming is a complete hoax. Anthony asked, “What do you think about the science behind this sir?” Mr. Gore rolled his eyes, and security escorted him out of the building.

Steve (swizzlesteve), was the last activist to question Gore. Within seconds of asking, “Any comments on ClimateGate? The emails that prove it’s a scam, a farce, that global warming is a joke, any comment?” Mr. Gore is heard to utter a few “uhhhhhhhs” and security quickly steps in to remove him as well.

Al Gore was confronted multiple times in line, outside the event as he rushed to his waiting Mercedes SUV, (were you expecting something electric?), and once again in the streets of Chicago.

Red, I liked your earlier post where the scientists cited were linked to works they did relating to Climate Change. I noted that existing works were good but until others do cooresponding science the validity aren't assurred. I made a tongue in cheek comment about the 600 international scientists who dissented against Evolution. Sorry but the include of these 700 are the same as the 600. (UPDATE: Let alone 30K) Just because one is a scientist (or an international one at that) gives them no more validity on comments of something out of their field of research as any non-scientist.

Bullocks. Minnesota had one of the coolest summers ever. The world however is on course for 2009 to be about the 5th warmest measure ever. 2008 was the 8th warmest year. So a hotter year is cooling?! There is a hump about every 11 years reflecting a cyclic pattern of cool to warm to cool again. The last decade is again a hump. If it were 'cooling' we'd see a decreasing curve from 1999 to 2009. The flaw I've seen related to this is the authors pick a point 10 years ago and a point now and draw a straight line. This is the change in the 2 points this is not a reflection of the trend. Again a hump...

EDIT: 7 Answers to Contarian Nonsense I might add #3 does a better job of explaining how statistically invalid the claim of last 10 years of cooling truly is.

Nature Magazine if the emails prove anything it's a clear lack of a conspiracy.

I agree I didn't see Al Gore's name mentioned once and he's the furious leader of the religion. :roflmao:

This blogger has had a look at the CRU's (aka the world's leading authority on climate change) source code which includes the gems:

; Apply a VERY ARTIFICAL correction for decline!!
[quote:2ih26mma] ; fudge factor
[/quote:2ih26mma]

CRU's weapons of math destruction

The raw climate data can prove the CRU did not fudge their results.
Oh! that's right they "threw away the raw data"!?!!
and their dog ate their homework too.

This decade 'warmest on record'

The whole Earth is cooling thing is from a reading of the data from the UK Met office, if you take it from certain years only, one year before and you get a different reading. Other records disagree and show warming.

This time however all the records from different organisations agree, the Earth is warming rapidly.

This time however all the records from different organisations agree, the Earth is warming rapidly.

But, the unfortunate question is, do the records have any basis in reality? Without the data, do we really know?

The truth is, I'd like to see the US start a serious effort to move away from fossil fuels for a number of reasons. (Many of which aren't even scientific, but have to do with our own infrastructure and independence.) What I don't understand, is why the scientists from both sides of the argument seem to have a blatant disregard for actual scientific data and methods.

It's truly a shame how little factual information is available.

Waking up to -10F makes me want to encourage Global Warming!

Peer-Reviewed is questionable at best.
