id rather be regarded as a smug atheist than a self righteous christian, and ultimately it is our individual choice. to dismiss and disregard the atheist for thinking wholesale out of hand is as bad as judging someone based upon their foolishness for believing...

nope... no assumption there whatsoever... you can be either a christist or a christian... there is a distinction and it does matter... a christian is a follower of christ, and no one may pass to the father except thru the son, thats pretty much saying hes got someone above him... a christist however is a not necessarily a believer , but someone whom believes only that jesus was a decent feller who tried to help and got killed for it, and while it might seem tragic, a good deal of his value structures benefit mankind as a whole. and he is worthy of emulation. im a latter, not a former. i help people because i actually like people. i have a hard time having fun if im watching other folks struggle and i know im able to help. i dont need some threatened spankings from a cloud beast to frighten me into doing that, im able to (thank you jesus and let me hear an amen) solely because it is right, and it makes me feel good. but as i said earlier, and i mean it... i try hard not to mock the faithful unless they display to much ass, im glad they have it to fall back on and if it makes em feel better i begrudge no man what it takes him to get thru his day... i smoke pot... others drink or snort hydrocodone... some believe in god... same same no matter how ya try and slice it... its a crutch and nothing else... when you see reality for the totality of itself it is dark and bleak... smoke whatever hope drug you want...
