Gifford shooter was a drug using, Bush hating leftie

The point of reading these works is not to adopt them or like them or any such though that may happen. It's to know, when the bullshitters try to act like they know something, that they don't. It helps you be able to tell the difference between those who know what they are talking about and the ones who have nothing but mouth.

Excellent point, well made.

It's also what Red did above with the Unabomber. The ploy is to go with a knee-jerk "he's a monster" and tag on "he's a lefty" and hope no-one notices that is bull. It doesn't work so well if you have the manifesto at your disposal.

Gee, kind of like claiming the Gifford shooter was influenced by Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck for political gain and hope no one notices?

I've been reading it. I can see why people are discouraged from reading it, it has some appeal especially in times like these. In the US it could certainly appeal as it really looks at life through a nationalist and populist lens with lots of anti-communist rhetoric.
of course. and that's one of the appealing points to the people who read it in the 30's

understanding Hitler (or his influence) really means understanding the times he came into public view. because we know the horrific outcome it's very easy for some people to say, well THOSE people were just stupid. of course they fell for a bastard like Hitler.

but we all watched similar morons falling for the cheney/bush crowd just a few scant years ago.
and you know full well i'm not comparing either of these douchebags with Hitler-the-person. Just pointing out that people can continue to be blind to their best interests by manipulators

And that was one of the interesting points in history. Random factors at work in nations. Germany was unlucky enough to get Hitler. Italy unlucky enough to get Mussolini. The US got FDR. We were at a similar tipping point as Germany and could have gone done that path.

We can argue about lucky and unlucky. Hitlers' economic recovery was faster than FDR's. Hitler took steps to decapitate the financial oligarchy that was destroying Germany and kicked out the giants banks, instituted a currency that was wholly issued by the government that the international banks could have no influence over and were completely cut out of. This was similar to what Napoleon had done in France and the US colonists did also that so infuriated the international banks. Without a currency issued by banks then how could the banks skim form the economy? FDR left the international banking interests largely in place so to a certain extent he was protected from any well backed regime change. Even so there was an attempted coup by business interest against FDR who was considered to be a class traitor for giving too much to the middle classes.

If Hitler had been willing to share his spoils with the right people he would have been allowed to rampage over all of Europe. The calculation of elites back then was the same as it is now.Nobody cares what you do to "your own people" so long as tribute is duly paid. End of story. No war is ever fought for purely moral reasons. They are far too expensive for that. There has to be a profit to be made or a threat to future profits. You want to kill all your gypsies and jews (how come no-one ever laments the dead gypsies?) that's no business but your own. You want to acquire coal fields? Oil fields? Default on your debt? Hell no. Them's fighting words.

Interesting analysis there Fluffy. And you probably know way more about YouTube then I do, I usually only go there when you post a link. :D

Well, I'm still not sure what to think about the youtube thing. It could be that Loughner ran the site as a fan site but after the shooting the giffords staff got control of it. However, we do know that there was a connection from before and we also now find out that Loughner got a letter from Gabby at one point (regular political thank you form letter) which he kept in the safe at home for several years. Appaerntly the police now have it and fouind that it had "Die Bitch" hand written on it.

There also seems to be some scuttlebutt that Jared's mum belonged to the same synagogue as the Giffords so the families were connected also by community. It brings the whole thing down, more and more, to something personal - the old: you're more likely to be killed by someone you know - mostly because personal grudges are strongest.

Ya, you were right that the FBI would most certainly know about it. What would have been more interesting for us all would be to point out that little fact to a few investigative journalists. They may have more access to inside stuff and also publish their findings.
