RUSSIANS ARE FREEZING TO DEATH

(RUSSIA) -- While the mid western states in the U.S. are dealing with the first big snowstorm of the season – one that has shuttered schools and may end up in blizzard conditions Thursday morning for commuters from Kansas to Wisconsin – in Russia this year’s winter is so brutal that people are freezing to death.

Russia is engulfed in the harshest winter in over 70 years, with temperatures dropping as low as -50 degrees Celsius (-58 Fahrenheit).

Dozens of people have already died and almost 150 have been hospitalized, according to Russia Television (RT TV).
.
The network reports that Russia hasn’t seen such a long cold spell since 1938 and that temperatures are 10 to 15 degrees lower than the seasonal norm all over Russia.

Across the country, some 45 people have died due to the cold, and 266 have been taken to hospitals, according to RT TV.

Another Russian report said 542 people were injured due to the freezing temperatures.

The Moscow region saw temperatures of -17 to -18 degrees Celsius (1.4 and 0.4 F) on Wednesday, and record cold temperatures are expected to hang around for at least three more days.

In Siberia a –50 Celsius (-58 F) was recorded, which is also abnormal for the month of December.

So how cold exactly is, say for example minus 41 degrees Celsius?

It is so cold that if you were to throw boiling water into the air, it would vaporize into a white fog before the water hit the ground.

nice blizzard... two inches... not enuff for the crops... we got bupkis when we usually have snow by pheasant season so deep its hard to walk through... stock up food... we lost more calves this year from heat, than in our worst winter and yeah like the guys feeding straight sugar to the herds all of our feed is so poor in quality that we have been saturating it with molasses which will not bode well when it comes time to sell....

bummer....I think many people don't understand that this climate change means EXTREMES result....and we have plenty of examples of that

Antarctica once covered in palm trees

"The CO2 content of the atmosphere as assumed for that time interval is not enough on its own to explain the almost tropical conditions in the Antarctic," said Jörg Pross, a paleoclimatologist at the Goethe University and member of the Biodiversity and Climate Research Center in Frankfurt, Germany.

Oh, goodie! Yet another regional weather thread with a global warming title.
Must be one of the most popular themes (if not *the* most popular theme) for your threads, Jim.

Well, despite having an extremely cold November with many sub-zero temperatures, we've had a double-digit upward swing in the last couple of weeks and the whole UK has been dealing with flooding throughout that period.

It's beginning to look a lot like a very damp, soggy and possibly even submerged Christmas.

As happens every, single year.

Global Warming was changed to Global Climate Change because of similar mischaracterizations. Jim stands on the rising end of the Titantic and declares there is no sinking because he's going up into the air.

Interesting. When people on Whzzat, including yourself, make claims that single weather events are proof positive of Global Warming, all is well. If someone else points to certain weather events to counter such arguments, you get twisted like a pretzel. I've only seen you nod in agreement when a single tiny regional storm is proof of Global Warming.

The last time I checked, the land mass of Russia is more significant than the land mass of New York.

How can you have the harshest winter in over 70 years every single year? Interesting concept.

Try reading my post again.
Try looking at the part of the article I quoted.
Or, if you already knew that, maybe just try to stop misrepresenting me.

Where have I claimed that a single weather event is proof of global warming?
Or are you misrepresenting me again?

If you really want to have a discussion, try being honest.
If you don't, feel free to keep making stuff up and talking a lot of pish but don't be surprised when you are laughed at, lampooned, parodied and ridiculed.

Talk enough pish and eventually people will think every, single thing you say is pish.

Admittedly, in my opinion you've been straddling that particular threshold for quite some time.

uhm... simple... every year it gets worse?

nobody on whyzzat points to single weather to substantiate their positions save you... the rest of us seem to point to those extreme incidents, as a collection of compounding evidence to substantiate that climate change is taking place... when the planet warms, the weather cycles change, the wind currents change, the water currents change.... deniers are the only ones who whelp and whine about how "if its warming then we should all be burning up!!". the realists who actually understand science see things differently.

Here's some posts from a thread you participated in and certainly didn't take exception to the coments.

In none of these have you taken exception to the concept that a single storm is due to "global warming". But what about a statement directly from you?

We can see that warmer conditions are going to influence the weather
Well, some of us can. ;)

Bzzt wrong, but thanks for playing. If it gets worse every year, the statistic would be coldest winter since last year.

Too bad the interweb has a long memory.

You're really trying to pass this off as:
people on Whzzat, including yourself, make claims that single weather events are proof positive of Global Warming
?

If you're actually serious, you need help with basic English comprehension.

i wouldnt have pointed to that quote... or linked to it... fluffy and i are clearly commenting about the relationship of two seperate and unique incidence as part of a larger whole... and bzzt thanks for not playing... you change only the wording of your statement... if it gets successively colder somewhere each year, and as long as it hasnt been freakishly or flukishly colder in any of the last preceding 70 yrs the statement can still be true...

Fiscal Cliff - contrived politics
Climate Cliff - reality
