They didn't restructure their debt. They used a currency swap to hide their debt. Greece did what other nations like Italy have done in the past, except Italy hired a different company to do it. Greece has done it's own debt hiding in the past but it seems the EU was catching on to their tricks and Greece called in the experts. It should also be noted that what Goldman Sachs was hired to do wasn't even illegal at the time.They sucker everyone. It's their job. It's how they make money. I would not be at all surprised if the government of Greece really didn't believe that Goldman was helping them when it restructured their debt. I find that government leaders are generally not very sophisticated and tend to be over trusting of giant institutions. Not just Greeks, but the average elected drone in general.
