Here comes Armagaddon

I didn't see the whole thing but fullscale war on Syria (aka no-fly zone) IS collective punishment.
Of course - almost all war is which is one of the reasons I'm almost always against it - but collective punishment is not usually presented as an explicit objective.

Up another notch.

Boris Johnson has given his first hint that the west is willing to step up military activity against the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad, saying a meeting of foreign ministers on Sunday will look at new options.

He stressed he did not want to give false hope to the Syrian opposition, and said it might be a long day’s march, but “more kinetic options, the military options” were being considered.

Particularly like this kiech:
He said as a result of the bombardment of Aleppo public opinion was changing, but it remained to be seen if a coalition for a military option could be constructed.

Public opinion *is* changing but only as a result of a relentless propaganda campaign.
Johnson is as guilty of this as anyone, having already conflated immigration and Syria, with the implication that bombing Assad will somehow reduce the number of immigrants.

Yup. The acceleration has been quite breathtaking - I still feel as though someone is not willing to take a chance on the outcome of the US elections.

Why do you think Obama and his cohorts in the liberal media are doing everything they possibly can to start a race war domestically?

I'd tend to agree with that being a factor.
The worry that a president Trump will remain as much of a loose cannon as candidate Trump will be making some people twitchy.

Mikhail Gorbachev Warns US and Russia About To Declare War

Mikhail Gorbachev has warned that the current state of relations between Russia and the US means World War 3 is almost inevitable.

Gorbachev has urged both sides to resume dialogue about nuclear disarmament before it’s too late.

I think the world has approached a dangerous threshold. I would prefer not to suggest any particular schemes, but I want to say: we need to stop. Dialogue should be resumed. Stopping the dialogue has been the biggest mistake. Now we must return to the main priorities, such as nuclear disarmament, fighting terrorism and prevention of global environmental disasters. Compared to these challenges everything else is a second priority,” Gorbachev told RIA Novosti.

France: Russia or Syria to blame for airstrike on school

France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault:

“Who is responsible? In any case it is not the opposition because you need planes to launch bombs. It’s either the Syrians – the regime of [President Bashar] Al-Assad – or the Russians,” Ayrault told a news conference.

“It’s yet another demonstration of the horror of this war, which is a war against the Syrian people, which we cannot accept.”

Earlier today, Russia’s foreign ministry denied that it was responsible for the attack.

This hypocritical kiech from the same France who started bombing Syria before Russia even got there.
But now it's unacceptable.

Wasn't one of the first things the Americans bombed in Syria a civilian grain storage facility? Based, I think, on the fact that it was a dual use asset - because terrorists could eat it too. However, millions of dollars and UK pounds have been handed to a few hundred white helmets which only exist in east Aleppo and I'm sure all they did with that is buy some gauze and some high end video production gear. Nothing dual use about millions of dollars.
