How are your local parks?

Glasgow's parks are mostly pretty nice but nothing spectacular.

I have to confess to being mightily impressed by Central Park in New York but probably the best one I've been in is Morska Gradina (Sea Garden) in Varna. You could lose yourself for days in there.

Minneapolis, where 94% of residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park.

I've no idea what the figure is for Glasgow but I certainly don't have to go very far:

That's the front gate of the park across the road, taken from my living room window about two minutes ago.

Who knows, I might end up walking around some of those parks soon. Lisa wants to go somewhere now that we have the Murano and Minneapolis is on the list. But so is Banff, and that's an awesome park all on it's own. What else is there to do in Minneapolis?

ps: One of the best parks I've been to is in Fluffy's town of Vancouver. Toronto has a nice one too, but it's an island and you need to take a ferry boat. Winnipeg... we have some very nice parking lots. :D

there's lots of little parks near me and then there's that beautiful Clark Garden (that was damaged during Sandy) that I've already posted pictures of.
New York is full of fabulous greenery.

I back onto a swath of parkland...

This was taken quite some time ago, to the right of me is the Darebin Creek, to the left is the main road that leads into my street, to the right of the light pole you can see the fence of the first house in my street. In the background you can make out the city of Melbourne.

This is the same area only shot looking the other way and a tad closer to my place.

Forgive the black and white, it's just how I roll...

I like the second photo. The trees are nice but the clouds give it an ominous feel, as if Mordor is in the background. :D

@Robert

Thank you :)

@Glaucus

I took a blast of ground shock from a nearby lightning strike taking that pic...

I decided to take a walk in the park I live right next to and get a few snaps on my phone. I actually walk these trails pretty frequently with the dog.

(but then the files proved to large to upload ... will have to squish them and up them tomorrow)

I have actually. Loved it even. Got lots of photos too but they're stuck on glossy paper about 4x6 inches in size. Weird that.

If you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you visit and what did you like about the place?

Very nice Fluffy :thumbs up:Trumps our parkland anyway...

Where I live...

As you can see, it's pretty much all medium density housing with the odd shopping centre here and there, given that, there are still farily large patches of parkland to enjoy. Going by the photos I provided earlier, you may even be able to guess a more exact location of my house.
