How are your local parks?

V
As you can see, it's pretty much all medium density housing with the odd shopping centre here and there, given that, there are still farily large patches of parkland to enjoy.

Most of Vancouver is pretty similar but I happen to be right next to this big chunk of land that is part of an endowment to UBC and includes some fantastic trails and an ecological reserve.

If you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you visit and what did you like about the place?
It was back in 1998 I believe. I liked the weather and the food and the ocean. Melbourne seemed to have a bit of a European flavor to it (plus I got a kick out of hearing so many people speaking Greek out in the open, a lot of Greeks in Melbourne). Very laid back and over all a beautiful place. I like Sydney as well but it's a different city. Sorta like the difference between Vancouver and Toronto, culturally very different. Oh ya, plus the trams were kinda fun.

Did you move since I was there? I don't remember any of that in your area. But then, it's been a while.

I still own the house you came to but other people are living there. I'm not the evil 1% but I'm in the obnoxious 5%. That could all change pretty fast though. I still like the old neighbourhood with all the cool coffee shops and eateries and hippies and punks and weirdos and old Italian guys and drum circles in the park, but the dog is pretty happy living next to the forest.

Melbourne was a lot nicer back then, too many fart sniffers now and at night it seems to be chock full of drunks. I used to love catching the train or tram into Melbourne just to soak up the atmosphere, lost all interest in that now. For a while I'm pretty sure Melbourne was the largest Greek city outside of Athens. If you heard that much Greek, I dare say you were in Lonsdale Street. I actually went to a school run by the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne, Alphington Grammar, so for a while my Greek was pretty fluent.
