Let me introduce to you a ghost of the future:

That is a clear ultrasound! I guess you are expecting? CONGRATS! I guess we are looking at a boy?

Yes, it's my first. We don't know yet if it's a boy or girl. I'd like to know but "mom" likes surprises. :) I too was quite impressed with the clarity and overall detail. Keep in mind the fetus is only 12 weeks old and is about the size of a prune. Despite that, he/she was quite active for us and put on quite the show, bouncing around in there (we have it all on DVD to watch over and over). My mom tells me I was quite the kicker so perhaps that's my contribution right there. :D

That is great, congrats! Whatever mom takes in, the baby takes in. Too much caffeine and the baby could get ultra hyper, though it could do it without too. At 12 weeks the baby certainly can be active! You as Dad should talk to her belly as much as you can. When it grows a bit it will respond to your voice and when he/she is born, will know you already.

Fun times, enjoy every minute of it. The mother has all the morning sickness, discomfort and pain of labor while Dad's get mostly the fun part :D

BTW, IMO this is not a small announcement but a rather large one. Parenthood is the most rewarding part of life, for me at least.

Congratulations Mike!
I've just popped open a cold one in honour of Glaucus Junior. :pint:

No, mom has been very vigil in cutting out pretty much everything. She hasn't touched coffee/tea since the pregnancy test. She does nothing but read those pregnancy books and as a result has pretty much cut out half of her diet which I think is a bit much, but whatever. Of course this also means I'm stuck cleaning out the kitty litter as well. But a small price to pay considering what she's going through.

And yes, this is a small announcement only in size, I fully understand life will never be the same for me again. Which is great, this was the plan so it's all good. This will be the first grandchild for my parents as well, so they're thrilled too.

Yeah, sometimes women will go overboard :)

How old are you again, 36? I think you mentioned before, but I forgot. My wife and I started extremely early for nowadays. Many people now wait until there 30's. One thing about waiting is it probably makes it easier to accept settling down. It is a big change and the first year can be difficult, but you will love it.

Congrats again.

I'm almost 39 actually. Doing some mental math I realized that if I wait much longer I'll be raising kids when I'm 60. I mean, I'm practically 40 now, by the time they're 20 I'll be 60. Wow. That's crazy. So better start at 39! ;)

Right now, my only concern is that the baby is healthy. Not much else matters.

The pictures are too cryptic. Mind can't comprehend what I'm looking at. What are you trying to say Mike?
Well, you see, when two people really love each other they, well, umm.... Or even if they barely know each they can, um, hmmm... Well, there's this big white bird called a stork and... Oh screw it, it means I'm gonna be a dad!

:pint:Woohoo! Congrats.
Isn't it funny how we portrayed ghosts as white humanoids (think Casper the Friendly Ghost) but now with modern technology we see an unborn baby in the same "ghostly" shape and color? Those images are as beautiful as they are haunting. But just wait, when the fetus gets bigger they have 3D imaging and to me that seems down right creepy:

Just no privacy today, not even in the womb! Get used to it kid! ;)
