Introducing Mary, the Wife of Jesus

The Jesus of the bible isn't the Jesus most Christians believe in anyway.

The Biblical account of Jesus and his story is quite different from the characters it is based on. There are earlier descriptions that paint the picture of a different person. Nothing magical or supernatural. Just a normal guy who stood up for the little guy. The virgin birth, miracles and whole Son of God thing was added much later on. In fact the "Son of God" may have been a result of the word Messiah having different meanings in different languages - a translation error!

I don't believe I've read of any explicit mention of a wife but it was certainly suspected that he had one.
Mary Magdalene was certainly a more important figure than is portrayed in the Bible. She was one of if not the more important disciples and according to one of the alternative gospels kissed Jesus a lot. The gospels in the Bible were re-written for a Roman audience who didn't recognise women as having any importance so here role was reduced or removed.

A few years back all the excitement around the DaVinci code inspired a lot of TV programs that went into the history of the bible and Christian religion. A "true believer" probably might have found them offensive but I found them fascinating. But then I've never taken the Bible literally anyway.

I find the idea of Jesus being a normal bloke with a wife as being rather more believable.

Strange they got rid of the kissing girls and only kept in kissing boys...
