    I've heard the IRS may look into those scammers...I sure hope that's true

    Anyway, Oliver is just brilliant

    I don't think the UK really has much of a history with Televangelists - I can't honestly think of an equivalent, that said I'd argue that was more down to how TV developed in our respective nations rather than anything else. Put simply, things like cable meant that there was much more space for them to operate vs 2 or 3 channels we had over here during TV's re-emergence post war.

    I've never really understood the appeal of them tbh. I mean I get that the UK is more secular and private (mostly) about people's faith, but surely when one of these shysters showed up, the local churches gave people a heads up?

    Whenever I think of these shysters, the memory of seeing Peter Popoff getting spectacularly busted by James Randii always raises a smile.
