Clear Channel quietly pruning scores of staff

Last week’s exit of controversial WSPD-AM 1370 talk-radio host Brian Wilson follows a yearlong pattern of dismissals, layoffs, and corporate maneuvering by Clear Channel Communications Inc. that has sent scores of people to the unemployment line.

Clear Channel, the largest radio station operator in the country, is partially owned by Bain Capital, which is the company founded and previously run by former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

People in "miserable backward places" can usually grow their own food if shit hits the fan.
 
we have farms on Long Island and upstate NY and NJ.

yeah, shocking I know but we regularly get local food here.


we also can get fruit from South America (for example)...and while that is wonderful if we wish it, we could live without it.

We have dozens of local farms here. And even have places to teach our children how to farm. Imagine that! One of my friends has a brilliant son who get awards because of his talent in gardening. I've told him often that he will be the 21st century hero because people will always need to eat and it's HIS generation that will have to begin to heal this planet.
