Who knew that a black person could be famous or influential? Apparently it never occurred to the NYPD. Black people are a usually safe target to brutally arrest for no reason because ... they are nobodies who nobody (worth mentioning) cares about. But James Blake isn't one of those.

But James got lucky because he didn't react to defend himself from an unidentified man charging at him and grabbing him, he didn't get seriously injured or killed and he didn't die in jail. Nor was he hospitalised for the indecent offence of thinking she was a someone.

.. and some idiots shouldn't be breathing.

Some here want to think all cops are bad, but that's just as bad as suggesting that all blacks steal, or all whites are racist, or...

There's a problem with the system - or, at least there is one from where the citizens are sitting. It works for the rulers quite well. Most people are just fortunate enough not to be touched by it but if you do you have a good chance of finding out how broken it is.
The hiring and training and discipline practices are basically flawed and at worst corrupt. That's always been a problem with police departments - power does that - but that means you need the hammer to come down from the top. When the top is OK with what's going on, nothing changes. When nothing changes eventually people start thinking they just might be better off to start hammering around the bottom. Things go wrong pretty quickly after that.

I know a few retired cops that are quite ethical and always do any job they have as well as they can - and better than most.

I also know of a scumbag "cop" who shouldn't be in that job at all. I find people like him are an insult to the Professionals I know
