Obama is a hollow savior who is all about himself. Throw the bumb out and all politicians in Congress. I want to go back to taxation without representation!

An absurdly silly decision which, if he has any shame, will be politely declined.

Almost a risible as Henry Kissinger.

Well he certainly deserves some kind of prize for not being the moron George Bush was.

I agree. He should get a "Darwin Award" for stupidity beyond any rationale.

Obviously he can't because that award is going to you this year (as it did last year, and the year before, and the year before that...).

Do you really think of these things to say on your own or did you get an Obama speech writer to assist in your weak attempt at humor? Please remember to look at the teleprompter as you answer.

Right, he should decline it but he won't. He should decline because who would want to be a winner of an award who has past winners such as Yassir Arafat and nominees like Aldof Hitler.

I'm hoping he declines it, but Red might be right. Maybe he can commute the award to Nobel Prize for Literature? At least that makes more sense.

He has accepted it for what he is going to do. He called it a, "call to action." The Chicago Mafia is well and alive in world politics. This guy is more creative than Bill and Hillary and dangerous.

That's the reason you think he should have declined?
Because Hitler was nominated and Arafat won? (I'm guessing you've no problem with Mr. Kissinger winning. Apologies if I've misread you.)

I also think he should have declined but the reason I think that is because he has done little to deserve it.

Obama bombs moon, wins peace prize.

The cut-off date for nominations was ten days after President Obama's inauguration

Obama's success is 99 percent aspiration and 1 percent perspiration.

Hmmmm,
Jimmy Carter, Yasser Arafat, Mohammad al-Baradei, and now Barck H Obama.

Is there a trend?

Help Obama win the Heisman Trophy!

Personally it's too early for a Nobel Prize. He's been in charge of the USA for 9 months. One might say his presidency is in it's infancy.

Certainly Obama has already changed the course of the USA in the world. A few items - willing to accept science and Global Warming. Realization that Russia is not the big enemy so we won't be putting missiles in Poland. He worked with Isreal which reduced expansions and deesclated some of their concerns over Iran. European leaders seem to be more supportive of the US and actions. Clearly the difference is a leadership style in the world that's more inclusive and relationship building and less dicatorial than the last administration.

There is still a lot to do. Pull out of Iraq. And of course the mess which is Afganistan. Let alone the direction of what truly happens over the next 3-4 years.

IMO the award was completely political. Though it reflects the positivism in the world over the change in direction of the USA. Obama should respectfully reject the award.

Yup and it's good the USA didn't win the Olympics! One must ask why do the conservatives hate America?

isn't Obama giving the money to charity?

All CRAP! Nobody "wins" anything unless they qwork for it and earn it. Obama was predetermined to get this goofy award and it has further cheapend it as it did when Gore and Carter got it. It's a stupid award to honor somebody for nothing.

I find it very disappointing that the Nobel Peace Prize has apparently been reduced to a simple political tool. The fact that President Obama was considered within 14 days of becoming the US President is a bit odd to me. While the Nobel committee can certainly choose whoever they want, I always understood this high award to be based on a body of work that generally encompasses years if not decades on a global (impact) scale. How someone like our current president can rank such consideration given his very limited experience (let alone global political resume) frankly astounds me.

It really does appear as if the Nobel committee sought to, as Bill Mahr recently stated (I paraphrase), "recognize its not Bush". If this becomes the case (and for now it appears that way to me) then this award will take a very long time to regain my respect. :(
