Official Hate Crime Thread - Vol2

I'd wait to see the official toxicology report before making judgement. On the surface it looks very bad.
the guy was in an accident. even if he had a bit of drugs in him he still doesn't deserve to be killed for that.

I mostly agree, I'm just leery of the media getting the story wrong like they do so often. If there were small amounts of alcohol or marijuana in his system, it changes nothing. If the guy was ripped out of his mind on PCP or bath salts it could be a different story.

The media reports so far sound like this won't be the case, so at best this sound like a trigger happy cop.

agreed...btw, you might as well pull the news item about the shooting in DC navy yard because their are 12 dead officially (or so I just heard)

Rod Vereen is now representing accused killer Royal Jamal Jackson

Vereen was Trayvon Martin's pal Rachel Jeantel's lawyer in the Seminole County trial of George Zimmerman.

From CBSLocal:

Vereen said he was taking the case because he was a friend of Jackson's family and mother, who was identified in court records as Andrea M. Jones. She declined to say anything about the charges against her son.
Vereen offers a defense of his client suggesting that the killer is "mentally ill" and that "there was nothing in Jackson's past to lead him to believe that he would commit such a crime." Vereen also claimed that Jamal told him that police officers "beat him up while in custody."
