well the newest sign says they can no longer purchase energy drinks with their SNAP card! Unfair!

The mayor could have went to any convenience or grocery store and purchased from the prepared food section, then payed with a SNAP card

The mayor could have went [...]

Is this the common usage where you are from? I wonder if it is dialect. Usually you would use the past participle here instead of the past tense, i.e. "could have gone"

Very true. The local 7-11 has signs that it takes EBT. The "poor" can get jelly donuts, hot dogs made from questionable meat, nachos, slurpees, 5 gal container of soda etc, etc, etc.

according to the official government (both florida and texas) website that is not allowed... energy drinks are a supplement and therefore not allowed either... you should report that store owner for fraud if you really saw that happen... but just remember... you can use those cards to buy things that are sold at quick shops... and you can use the same snap card to pay for non food items so you better be sure the transaction is from the food stamp benefit and not the cash assistance side, which can include child support money too... i think it's more likely you guy's are jumping to conclusions than anything... trying to make it sound like poor people are squandering all of their money on junk food to justify breaking the whole machine....

so you'll be reporting those shop owners for fraud or are you saying you'll be sticking your head in the sand?
