I find that quite sexist tbh.
In the supermarket I go to, they hire a girl who has obviously a drug past. She's a bit slower than the rest but no one minds. I like the store for hiring her, giving her a second chance, and she takes it, as she works there for quite a while now.

I like a chatter if it isn't in such a surrounding like a big store with all the people and noise around me. For me, I rather go to the dentist than go to the supermarket.

A socialist would want every other check out clerk to work just as slow as she does. "equality of results"

Sounds more like one of those Christians who think that "people can reform and should be given a second chance"

I don't think I've ever seen such a desire. Equal hours, yes, not equal results. Socialists and (many) Christians just know humanity isn't perfect and we need our society to survive. And a society can only survive if we care for each other. Giving people a second chance proves this caring.

Komrade, Everyone is equal. Completely equal. But some ( Party elites--nomenklatura, who promote the Party and its progressive agenda) are more equal than others. Komrade report for re-education immediately, bring your shovel.

A socialist only cares about freeing the toiling masses from the bonds of wage slavery, so that they will no longer be exploited for their labor, these men and women will then be free to live without the stress of unnecessary choices, or the burden of supporting the decadent consumer society. Those who are mere cogs in the monstrous capitalist planet-raping machine, will be able to enjoy a carefree life of socialist government dependency.

Where as a Calvinist emphasizes the necessity for hard work as a component of a person's calling and worldly success and hard work is a visible sign of his Christian salvation.

you are simply one of the truly and honestly nicest people I know.
I think one reason is that you may actually like people - at least most of them.

on the other hand......
What I have noticed about some people who call themselves "Christian" or some sort of religious affiliation is that they appear to really HATE people in general. They constantly name-call, assume Everyone is out to USE and ABUSE them. Always assume the worse of people, Always figure Everyone is a liar, a crook, and generally Evil in every way.

Why are they so bitter?
or are they simply seeing themselves in others?

I just wish to thank you for being such a breath of fresh air.
 
I, for one, welcome the new self service checkout machine overlords at the AH chain of supermarkets here in NL. You walk around with a portable scanner and stuff all the groceries in your bag while walking. Checkout simply is placing the scanner in the checkout machine, paying with a debit card and walking away. Awesomeness. Only once in a while you get hit with a random check and I simply hand them my backpack/bag.

Well, I guess so, though I don't work with humans much as I get tired (literally) quickly of social interaction. But then again I weigh their words with a golden scale so to say.

I've had a fantastic math teacher who is a Christian and he was open about it but certainly not obnoxious or pushing or whatever, and considering love as the core value of his belief. I was thinking about him when I wrote about that about Christians and forgot about the many stubborn and obnoxious Christians I know (here in NL there aren't that many 'born again' Christians, only loving and caring Christians, Christians out of habit, and Christians with a longing back to the 50s) .

I'm humbled that I can inspire anyone.
as to Christians, my mother grew up in Brussels and speaks often about her memories of the nuns who were all about Love. And this is how my mother lives her life. If everyone was a Christian like my mom the world would be Heaven.

Unfortunately, in the US we have the god hates fags family who are ALL about hate. and lump in the others who when asked to speak in public are all about Hate hate hate.

I've met many a nice decent human being, but I know many Americans have real problems...it's quite the uncomfortable situation.

You have spoken more than once very fondly of her here considering her belief. That was the kind of Christianity I was raised to respect.

well, they are an easy target and have a funny name, so they are easy to mention during such discussions.
However, there are lots of other evangelical wacko christians - no matter what name they may use - who are seriously obsessed with THEIR way. And can't stand that anyone has a different idea. They are about as Unconstitutional as it's possible to be.
they wish to shove their stupid "religion" down Everyone's throats.
unfortunately, they have been getting a great deal of attention lately. I'm not saying they are a majority, but they make a great deal of noise. And a great deal of trouble. they are not people who know how to get along with others
