BEHEMOTH Frontman Faces Second Trial In Bible-Tearing Case

According to Polskie Radio, BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darskifaces a second trial on charges he insulted religious sentiment when he called the Catholic Church "the most murderous cult on the planet" during the band's September 2007 performance in Gdynia and tore up a copy of the Bible, calling it "a book of lies."

A district court in Gdansk Tuesday overruled an earlier judgment thatDarski was expressing artistic freedom during the concert.

"the most murderous cult on the planet"

way down the list

Yeah I don't agree with him on the statement, but I think it is frightening that he could face 2 years jail for saying it (while ripping a bible).

The Catholic church ain't what it used to be. It once managed to be a far more effective agent of slaughter than the mostly innocuous thing it has become today. That's just as well.
Communism shares something with Christianity, in that they are both nice ideas but no-one has ever tried them. Maoism and Stalinism were certainly brutal and claimed roots in Communism but weren't what Marx had in mind.
Atheism should not be lumped in with Communism as it wasn't the driving philosophy but rather power was. Atheism isn't a cult because it lacks leaders, followers and a creed.
If there is one thing that seems to lead to mass deaths it is dictatorial power. You can tell how undemocratic a nation is by the amount of time it is involved in wars.

Perhaps. Still an absurdly ludicrous organisation though.
Yesterday, the spokesman for the Catholic church in Scotland, not too long after claiming that:
Gay behaviour 'leads to early death',

Came out his best one for awhile
In much the same way as America's black citizens in an earlier era were urged to straighten their hair and whiten their complexions in order to 'minimise' differences with the white majority, many will surely urge Scottish Catholics to stop sending their children to Catholic schools or making public or overt declarations of faith at any time.

Remarkably, both his boss and his boss's predecessor are even bigger arseholes than Kearney.

there isn't even any shock value in ripping up a bible

Atheism => >Personality cults
Stalin, Mao, .....

Jim Jones "Peoples Temple" was an atheist doomsday cult

weren't what Marx had in mind.

It will always result in a psychopath in charge, its an unintended feature of the system

Which system?

Maoism and Stalinism were certainly brutal and claimed roots in Communism but weren't what Marx had in mind.

I apologise, I still don't know which system you are referring to.
Could you perhaps clarify more specifically.

Personality Cults come from various roots. Including religious ones. There's nothing unique about Atheism that drives a personality cult. Atheism is the lack of belief in a deity. Atheism has no moral foundation. And that's OK because most things in life don't. Does your lack of collecting stamps give you morals? Of course not.

Stalin's actions on religion were mixed. He destroyed religious institutions that conflicted with his power. Later once the religion wasn't going to fight him he allowed the religion to reopen institutions and rebuilt the various Seminaries.

Communism doesn't need Atheism to exist. It's independent of a belief system. There are Christian Communists. For example, early Christians organized their societies as Communist communities. Of course the definition for Communism didn't exist then. But, clearly the principles were in play in cultures prior to the formalization of the name for those set of ideals. We see in the 19th and 20th Century various Christian Communists. For example, Ernest Bloch, should be one well known philosopher/writer to most people. Bloch saw Communism as a strive for the common man to reach God and create a more Godly society. He worked to reestablish God in Communism. He claimed Lenin broke this relation and it wasn't what was originally intended.

monks (for example) are communists. They have no personal wealth. They share everything and work together. And some of them make great beer. :pint:

why the hate for communists?

Any nexus of power does. You should check out some of the Pope's back when the church had real power.
Have you had a look at capitalism lately? There are vicious nutjobs at the top there too. Some pretty unethical congress critters too. Any time power is allowed to consolidate the worst sorts of people end up with most of it.

Jim Jones "Peoples Temple" was an atheist doomsday cult
"Peoples Temple Christian Church Full Gospel", atheist? Oh wit, that's right. When you say "atheist" you mean non-Catholic, right?

Atheism => >Personality cults
Stalin, Mao, .....

... Jesus Christ.
(That's right, it doesn't stop being a cult of personality just because the "personality" is imaginary).

Any nexus of power does. You should check out some of the Pope's back when the church had real power.

Several of the Popes below are described in the Catholic Encyclopedia as "a disgrace to the Chair of Peter."

Steven VI 896 -897 had his predecessor, Pope Formosus, exhumed, then propped on a throne so it could be tried. The corpse was found guilty, stripped of its sacred vestments, deprived of three fingers of its right hand (the blessing fingers), clad in the garb of a layman, and quickly buried; it was then re-exhumed and thrown in the Tiber river. He was disposed by strangulation

John XII – 955-964 became pope at 18 and was nicknamed ‘Monster of Vice’. He turned the Vatican into a brothel, castrated rebellious cardinals and had the eyes gouged out of protesting priests. The husband of one of his rape victims killed him.

Benedict IX (1032-1048) – on three occasions. The youngest Pope (age 12-18?) he was the only man to have been Pope on more than one occasion and the only man ever to have sold the papacy (to his godfather, Pope Gregory VI). His qualifications for the papacy were a powerful family able to bribe his election. He was eventually disposed and excommunicated.

Any time power is allowed to consolidate the worst sorts of people end up with most of it.

But it's a pretty straightforward question anyway. A video really isn't necessary.

You criticised what you called "the system".
I'm only asking *which* system you are referring to.

The requested page could not be found.
So, in response to the question, "which system?" we've now had:
a cryptic quote
a video that doesn't work
a pdf that doesn't work
Can't you just answer the question?
To be honest, I'm now more interested in the reasons *why* you won't answer the question than the answer to said question.
Are you incapable of speaking for yourself?

:lol::lol::lol:
there is NO such thing as a "devout atheist"

devout to non-belief??? wow, that's really funny
