Polls, Polls and more Polls

Gallop says the race is (currently at least) a statistical tie.
I believe Gallop is a National Poll. IMO they're pretty worthless at this point. The president is elected by electors within a state. So really the state polls are going to be more accurate to the outcome.

According to the latest Rasmussen survey, McCain has a slight (although statistically insignificant) lead over Obama.

EDIT: This link shows the breakdown by catagory on what people apparently think of the candidates. Interesting read.

Statistics mean very little at this point.

What I found most interesting about that poll/page was merely that it appears to be a series of "please give me money" advertisements for McCain. I noted three separate adverts for contributions to the McCain campaign on that page, so to me, the statistics presented are automatically questionable.

Sort of like when Harry (AICN) pimps a movie that he gets a kickback from.

One more poll for the viewing (from Gallop). In the days since Obama announced Biden as his running mate, there has been no apparent surge in Obama's poll numbers. Let's see what happens tomorrow night after he speaks.

EDIT: CNN polling says Obama still has a long way to go in convincing voters that he is better at National Security than McCain.

DISCLAIMER: As I have said previously, polls are nothing more than a snapshot in time from a specific group that may or may not represent the public as a whole. My interest in tracking the political polls during this election year is to see just how "on" or "off" the mark the turn out to be.
