yeah, let's Hear it for symbolism that works WITH the Constitution instead of against it!

Symbolism that works!

Today, unmanned Predators struck in two locations in North and South Waziristan, killing at least 20 people according to the initial reports. The attacks took place just four days after President Obama took office, and one day after he appointed a special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Reports are the Taliban surrounded the bombed out structures. Recoveried the bodies and took them off. Waziristan is an area where the Taliban have killed a couple dozen people accusing them of spying for the US and Pakistan.

So yeah I'm with Cecila this is the RIGHT symbolism. Kill off the enemy strongholds you know about. If you have random people captured, have no evidence for their actions s so can't give them a fair trial , and your last resort is the failed information gathering method of torture this is definitely the wrong symbolism.

It's not symbolism, it's killing. If it's symbolic of anything it's that "change" means "stay the course".

A nation has a right, nay duty, to defend itself. The problem here is GWB FAILED to capture Osama and bring him to justice. In fact he turned down the offer to hand him over. This would have been the right answer. So the question at this point is how do we go about fixing the failures of the previous White House.

Actually it was Clinton who turned down the offer to turn Osama over.

It's both.

Sudan offered Osama to the CIA. They felt there was not enough evidence to prosecute at that time and did not take the offer. Yes this was under the Clinton administration.

Shortly after Bush took office the conclusion of the Cole bombing report came out associating Al Qaida with the incident. After 9/11 we began bombin Afganistan. The Taliban at that time offered up Bin Laden to a 3rd party along with the evidence to convict him. GWB rejected the offer instead choosing to continue the bombings along with offering a $50M cash reward for his capture, and subsequently failing to capture Osama at the Battle at Tora Bora.

The failure for obtaining the leader of the action that caused the highest death count of Americans in a single non-war incident is GWB.

It's not a failure. Capturing and prosecuting him would have closed down the military option.
