If these people were whistleblowing on a Republican governments misuse of intelligence to start an illegal war of choice they would be called "Traitors" and radio talk show hosts would offer to pay for the bullets to take care of them (if they didn't first go to solitary confinement in a military holding facility).

having said that ...

I believe whistleblowers are necessary to ferret out all corruptions but, from personal experience, it doesn't matter what organization I have seen this in, there is a price to blowing the whistle and so few people will change their allegiance merely on the profound and obvious revelation of the truth that someone has been taking them for a ride.
