It's the exact opposite here in South Florida. On average maybe ~1% of the year do we turn off the AC. I don't think we've turned on heat in maybe 10 years. I'm a native Floridian and I am damn tired of the heat! The amount of private homes in Scotland with air conditioning is probably below 1%. It's only ever warm enough to justify on a couple of days each year. Even if we're lucky enough to get a hot summer, it's usually pretty cold at night.
We're moving to Crystal River in the coming months, which is west central Florida. The fall and winter there are slightly more real seasons. The leaves turn, can get a good bit colder etc. Just a ~4.5 hour drive away but a big difference.
