Rep. Andre Carson (D): Tea Party Wants to See Black Americans 'Hanging on a Tree'

"Some of these folks in Congress right now would love to see us as second-class citizens," he said. "Some of them in Congress right now with this Tea Party movement would love to see you and me ... hanging on a tree."

Rep. Allen West (R) threatens to quit Congressional Black Caucus due to remarks.

West called the remarks "unconscionable" and "appalling."

"As Chairman of the CBC, I believe it is incumbent on you to both condemn these types of hate-filled comments, and to disassociate the Congressional Black Caucus from these types of remarks," he wrote. "Otherwise, I will have to seriously reconsider my membership within the organization."

Carson's remarks were baseless and amounted to race-baiting, West said, adding that he considers race-baiting a racist tactic.

"All of us, especially Congressman Carson, Congresswoman Waters and others who have engaged in racially-motivated rhetoric, should follow the example of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., not the example of Reverend Jeremiah Wright," he wrote.

A couple of the local bikers ex-prisoners I know protested at the Tea Bagger rallies. (And I use Tea Bagger as it was early on and they used this term before figuring out what it meant and changing their name.) I agree a small datapoint but a very visual one for me personally of the racism inherit in the local Tea Party activists.

Lynchings? Jim Crow? Slavery? Sounds like he's confused Republican's with Democratic political persuasion tactics.

The Tea Party is big on philosophical persuasion, by reading, e.g. Federalist Papers, The Constitution, Ayn Rand

It's not Republican/Democrat is North/South. The Dems used to be the party of the South but they moved over to the Northern money interest and the Republicans filled in the vacuum in the South, thumping Bible and pandering to white pride.

The North and South change much more slowly than a party shifts positions.

riiiiight! Racists just love Alan West because of his Nordic ancestry.

Oh, wait...

That is what the liberal media and pop culture want us to believe. Funny how so many people will believe a lie if told long enough.

Again Metalman you neglect the big political changes in the 60s and 70s. It was after the Dems passed the Civil Rights Acts when the southern racists moved to the Republicans.

If you look at voting records the minority vote and women vote have been for the Dems. The only demographic stronghold the Republicans have are the old rich white male voters.

What you mean like the lie that is "The Liberal Media"?

Looks like it's got you hook line and sinker me old fruit.

Why do you Progressives spite vile at the Tea Party folks for? Does their push to limit government size that threatening to you? If you wall would just balance the budget, the Tea Party would go away, but that's not possible nor apart of your political agenda, now is it?

You sure do know how to parrot the propaganda, how long have you lived in the South? Oh wait, you are not an American nor a Southerner.

The North and South change much more slowly than a party shifts positions.

Tell us all about your life time living down in the South what it's really like and what communities you lived in. Oh wait...

Oh, wait...

Or the Nordic ancestry of GOP Presidential Primary Candidate Herman Cain who is well connected with the Tea Party. Oh wait...

That's right, they are "Progressive Media" of CBS/ABC/NBC/CNN/MSNBC/Time/Newsweek/PBS/NPR/#? that is pulling the biggest con job in history. If you look at the percentages of media voting Obama/Kerry/Gore/Clinton, typically runs 80% or higher in every polling of media personal voting that I've seen for over two decades. The funny thing is they are all seeing massive viewer declines, no one wants to watch their progressive propaganda.

Which bit are you disagreeing with, red?

Perhaps that the lies of CBS/ABC/NBC/MSNBC/NPR/APR/Time/AOLHuffington/#? are still being effective? Judging by their decline in viewership/readership, people aren't buying it anymore.

You sure do know how to parrot the propaganda

Funny how that works, isn't it? The democrats are embarrassed by their own history so they blatantly make up a complete fantasy world. Even Obama himself does this, just look at his campaign. Did he try to stand on the shoulders of Jefferson Davis (D) and Jimmy Carter (D)? No, he associated himself with Abraham Lincoln (R) and Ronald Regan (R). The exact same thing happens now with slavery, civil right and anything else they find themselves on the wrong side of history about. They pretend history didn't happen and actually the exact opposite really happened

You are kidding right? Anyone who does not see Andre Carson's remarks for what they are (race bating) and agrees with them are one of the following:

1) Disingenuous for political purposes
2) Believe in race baiting to further cultural divide
3) Have an extremely low IQ

The hypocrisy at play here is amazing. It wasn't long ago some of you were nodding in agreement with the liberal media that violent rhetoric from the Tea Party caused Giffords to be shot, even after it turned out the shooter was deranged and had no political affiliation. Now you get giddy as school girls from obvious race baiting, violent rhetoric from the left? Pretty low.

LOL, what a misconception! When I moved to Texas in 1985, lots of people I met said they had never met anyone who was a Republican, almost all Texas county and state officials were then Democrats, remember "Gov Ma Richards" ? Jim Hightower?? Most counties never even had Republicans running on the general election ballot, the Democratic primary selected the officeholder.

Jimmah Carter and Ronald Reagan convinced southerners that they were not really Democrats anymore, but Republicans.

After the 1988 election had lots of people tell me privately, they switched and voted Republican for the first time ...

Travis County, Harris County and the counties along the Rio Grande are now the only place you still find Democratic Majorities, and that's only because of the constant influx of Mexicans who vote Democratic, because the Democrats give them "free stuff".

Umm that 's because Obama isn't Marxist he's a slightly right leaning centrist. In several ways he's to the right or Reagan.

seems to me the MOST inflexible people are the goose-stepping members of the fake republican party
