With my kids we talked about the events. They are going to hear about them at school, no matter how hard you try to protect them. I focused on the positives. The police stopped the man. It's very few and very rare this happens and as Mr. Rogers said --
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

After making a giant stink about how they will protest the memorial, The Westboro Baptist Church did not even bother showing up.
