    You asked for it, so here it is. A forum called the "Bulletin Board" just for you to post your status updates and other drivel in. A little more targeted than General Discussion, but we'll see how it goes...

    As for me, I'm going to be heading home to my dad's for the Labor Day weekend. Probably leave Thursday morning (it's a 12 hour drive)...

    Going to take him a Mac Mini and 27" IPS monitor while I'm there. He "upgraded" his Intel i3 to Windows 10 and isn't happy at all with the spying crap, so he wants it gone. Not suggesting Mac OSX is any better, but at least I can help support that for him...

    Working the entire Labor Day Weekend - off the weekend after. I'm off until Thursday, but then I work 9 days straight but I haven't had an entire weekend off since I've been back to work. Still love my job. No real plans except going to a restaurant tonight with my family as it is my birthday. Regarding Windows 10, my other computer has an icon that it installed that I'm supposed to click on if I want to upgrade, which I do not, and that is before the spy crap thing came to light. I simply like Windows 7 and friends bitch about Windows 8, so stick with what I like. Oh, and say "Hi" to Dad for me.

    Happy Birthday.

    I'm taking the day off today and was going to do some work on a house I own but it's raining so all I'll do today is replace a downpipe and put some plastic sheet on stuff and wait for sun. Next Weekend looks like when I'll get it done.

    Speaking of timey wimey limey - I can see by your green blip that you are on line but it is 25 past midnight where you are. Don't you have to get up in the morning?

    It's my day off tomorrow, plus most of my shifts don't start until around noon at the earliest. Though I have a beast of a shift come Wednesday. Also my knee hurts that much atm that I'll not be able to sleep until the throbbing stops.

    Hehe, tempting though that is, the pain is the price I pay for messing up my knees in the navy. According to the Dr who was part of my discharge process, she thought that by the time I was 30 I'd need crutches to move around. So I take every day I am able to continue walking as a gift. The pain is going down relatively quickly and with tomorrow as a rest day I'll be able to take it easy. Though right now I can do a really cool impression of a 90 year old man shuffling around. Doesn't help that there are no buses on bank holidays and Sundays - an extra hour of walking either end of a shift.

    If it gets really bad I can break out some very heavy painkillers that make Aleve look positively lightweight in comparison.

    Can you cycle? I find it much easier on the knees, strengthens the ligaments, stabilizes things up when my knees are getting wobbly - but then again, ymmv. What way did your knee get messed up?

    Ligament damage as well as cartilage damage, cycling is very uncomfortable I've found. I had a physio look at it a couple of years back and he said there was loss of flexibility that could indicate the first signs of arthritis...

    Nope, as the injury occurred just before the point where they would be prepared to take responsibility for it. Even if I came out today and was otherwise in good health, the injury wouldn't get comped.

    Ultimately it's something I'll have to live with it does for me. At which point I'll probably only be usable within an office type environment - as it is this is probably going to be the last physically demanding job I ever do. The only question is how long I can keep going before the joints give out completely.
