So is anyone here excited about the remake of V? I used to watch it when I was kid. I think I'll give it a viewing and see how it goes.

As far as other new shows, I'm hooked on the new ABC series Flash Forward. It's a neat idea where everyone on the planet blanks out for a couple of minutes and "dream" the future. It's a good combination of action, suspense and mystery.

One other show I'm really enjoying is the (I believe) Scotish show How Not To Live Your Life. This show doesn't play on the tube here so we get it off the BitTorrent channel. It's kinda dumb, low brow humor, but I like it.

And now for some CanCon: My favorite new Canadian cartoon: The Dating Guy. Not really for kids, and very funny.

What are you watching?

I'm actually looking forward to the remake of V. I know some people get tied down to the "80's" version of shows, and I get that it's sad Hollywood has no imagination, but I liked the Battlestar Galactica remake more than the original, and I'll give it a shot.

As for what I'm watching;

- Castle
- Dexter
- Californication
- Dollhouse
- The Big Bang Theory
- Smallville
- The Mentalist
- The Vampire Diaries
- Torchwood (when / if it comes back)
- Chuck (when / if it comes back)

-- and about 40 others that get DVR'd but those are my top 10

Dexter - WOW this show is amazing!!! I've literally watched the 1st three seasons several times (thank you ON Demand!)

And this fourth season is just as fabulous

The Big Bang Theory - I don't normally set foot in 'Network TV' territory, but the president of my local Amiga club suggested I try this. And i LOVE it!! it's a show for and about NERDS! it's just about 30 minutes of inside jokes. I still don't know how this show got on the air.

New Adventures of Old Christine - ok, this is CBS, but I love Julie Louis Dreyfus. She's one of the funniest humans alive today. So, I HAVE to watch this show.

Bones - I discovered this in reruns. TNT has several episodes in a row on some days. I find this show interesting because it's based on a real person.

NUMB3RS is also another one of those rerun shows. not anywhere as interesting as Bones, but if nothing else is on I'll leave it

the rest of the time it's Science and Discover and History/Hitler and Green channels (oh, and the Food channel) or BBCAmerica and yes, I wish I could see more of Torchwood.

I'm not 'excited' by the upcoming V, but I won't make a decision until it airs

Holy Jeez man. Do you play them back at quadruple speed on your heads up display?
Coz otherwise I find it hard to see how you would have much time to do anything else with your life but watch TV.

Hmm... first run shows:

Big Bang Theory - I went to school with these guys and still work with some of them! :roflmao:
NCIS - the original and still a great show (sadly the sequel - NCIS LA, is horrid)
Stargate Universe - likely not to stay on my list... been disappointed so far but I am a sci-fi junkie
Warehouse 13 - come back now! I don't want to wait until next year!
Graham Norton Show (BBC America) - laughs from start to finish!
Top Gear (BBC America) - the interaction of the cast is hilarious! Love the guest drives as well

I had not thought to watch the V remake (don't care for Hollywood running out of original ideas) but may give it a passing glance since a few here seem interested. For the record, I hated the "re-imagining" of Battlestar Galactica. Ron Moore is a hack. I will admit however that the remake had what I believe to be the coolest (CGI) shot ever done in a sci-fi show... when the Galactica jumps from space into New Caprica's atmosphere to launch Vipers and then jump out just before it impacts the planet's surface... WOW! :D

Hey me too! But I don't get History channel at home because I'm a cheap bastard (just basic cable for me) but the gym that I go to carries it! I watch it every second lunch time while I'm on the treadmill. Have to read quickly though as there's no volume. :(

Oh, one other show I like to watch is 30 Rock. It's not new, but it makes me laugh (and I don't think I could ever grow tired of Katrina). Very funny, very political and almost as witty as Arrested Development (and I could never gorw tired of Portia de Rossi either).

And oh yes, I should mention the shows I don't care to watch but do anyway:
Gray's Anatomy
America's Got Talent (and all shows like it)
So You Think You can Dance (and all shows like it)

Yep, girl friend.

Although, Cougar Town and Amazing Race aren't too bad....

As for what I'm watching;
- Dexter
- Dollhouse
- Torchwood (when / if it comes back)
- Dr. Who (when / if it comes back)
- True Blood
- Blues Clues
- The Electric Company
- Backyardigans
- GLEE

I only vaugely remember it, but yeah I watched it. The mini-series was pretty good, the tv show that came later was pretty bad iirc. Will I see the movie? Not unless it gets rave reviews.

Watch "Friday the 13th the Series."

It's an interesting comparison and one I agree with. When Wharehouse 13 originally premiered, I read one critic's review which basically called the show "X-Files Lite" (also accurate IMO).

I think however that Warehouse 13 has the added bonus of not necessarily taking itself too seriously. Both X-Files and Friday 13th the Series sufferred (IMO) becuase they tried to go too far with the drama and the forced scare. The script and character interaction should do that for you. Anyway, looking forward to its return. :-)

I loved 'V' as a kid so I'll probably give it a watch.

Recent-ish stuff I've been watching:
Generation Kill (a couple of months ago)
The Wire (halfway through series 3)
The Genius of Charles Darwin (again)
Life (Attenborough's new series)
The Thick of It (creative swearing at it's best).

I'll also watch the rest of Lost when it returns.

I don't seem to have enough time for TV series these days.
I've still never seen the last three episodes of The Sopranos.

Is it as good as "Life on Earth"?

Better? Who knows? Different? I'd say so.
Attenborough is one of my few heroes and I really love everything he does. This is no different.
I would say that so far it's come at things from a slightly different angle. For example he's been focusing on some new behaviours that seem to have evolved in recent(ish) times, like dolphin (beating the sea bed to create a silt curtain) and cheetah (group of three instead of usual solitary) hunting techniques.
Also showed a bunch of Komodo dragons hunting a huge water buffalo.

They're available here on the BBC iPlayer but I don't know if that applies to Canada.

Well, yes. Probably different. :)

I just remember how epic Life on Earth was when it came out. It had an amazing narrative.

Absolutely. I even own the book that came out to accompany the Life on Earth series.

If you liked it, you'll probably like Life too.

Well, I finally got around to watching V's first episode. I can't say I was blown away by it. I have a feeling I won't become a loyal fan. It was the first episode and it just seemed like they're moving the story along faster then they need to. I don't think it'll distract me from Flash Forward.

I too caught the V pilot online this weekend. The actor, Scott xxx, used to be in Party of 5 on Fox. None of them could act. He still can't.

The storyline did seem to move along too fast. One really didn't have time to care for the characters. Of course the special effects seem better.

I'll probably try another episode but I doubt I'll make it to the end of the series.
