Oh, and if you don't want to have an abortion, may I suggest you do something a wee bit radical and 'out there' like not having an abortion? Crazy idea, I know but no one is forcing anyone else to have an abortion.
It's interesting to see people call for us to get back to the Constitution but then want to outlaw abortion. When the Constitution was made the abortion was allowed.

I've yet to meet a so-called 'pro-life' idiot who doesn't support the death penalty and bombing foreign countries.
The same person that calls himself pro-life and supports deaths of others also frequently supports not funding single Moms or early childhood education. I guess the idea is somehow the baby will be grow to a better adult if we first ensure it's always born and second ensure it always lives in a high stress environment.

Overpopulation->poverty->bad education->superstition/faith

Very logical from a meme POV

no congratulations for a country that finally voted for a guy that has a 3 digit IQ??
No.

I mean, is it so hard to vote for a decent president?
There are app. 300million ppl in the US, so there should be thousands of persons who are very capable for the job.

You get congratulations when your prez has done a great job to get the economy up, get the foreign relations right and things like that.
you are absolutely correct!

I do expect Obama to be WAY more into the job than bush - and he's even working now, despite people suggesting he should just relax

like Obama, i'm not celebrating now...but i expect things will improve

Regarding foreign policy, there are lots of things to be done.

Just some of the things I'd like to see him do in first 100 days:

Announce Iraq withdrawal;
Shut guantanemo;
Pardon those convicted by the ludicrous military trials;
Start talks with the Taliban;
Start talking to the rest of Bush's 'axis of evildoers who hate freedom';
Tell Israel he's not to be f*cked with.

That would be a good start.

Really? I find it more sort of mildly amusing in a head-shaking "that's so dumb" kind of way. One of the problems with songs like that is that they don't address universals the way really good songs do, but rather you have to be into that particular fairy tale to pick up the allusions and appreciate the intent - but in the case of this song, being familiar with the story doesn't help because the song itself only serves to point out how ludicrous the story is. It's a bit sad.

A much better song is Bruce Cockburn's "All the Diamonds" which is melodically superior and much more universal (except for 2 lines which make specific reference - I think they are the weakest lines in the song and they always intrude).

Too true. It's 1930s all over again. Republicans broke the economy so its up to Dems to fix it. Hopefully Obama will be more like FDR and less like Hoover.

Wow! I sense hatred in your tone. I think you should move to Spain where they let terrorist run their lives. Please take Alec and Babs with you. :shock:

So much for being open minded. :roll:

Spain is a wonderful country. I've been there many times. I wouldn't rule out living there, although it seems unlikely.

I wouldn't fancy living there. Imagine, you've just bought a nice villa in the countryside. The Government then decides to build a motorway through your back garden. Because this motorway will benefit you, you'll be forced to contribute towards the cost of building it. That's on top of losing your back garden. You're lucky they didn't decide to build it through your living room, otherwise it'll cost you more.

Unlikely - I prefer cities.

Yeah, because that happens to everyone who lives in Spain.

:roll:

You can find something bad about every country on the planet if *that* is what you want to do.
e.g. I wouldn't fancy living in the UK. Imagine, you're researching and borrow some books from the library. Next thing you know you're locked up for four weeks without ever being told why. You are eventually released without charge but in the month you've been gone you've lost your job, can no longer afford your house and many of your previous colleagues now think you are a terrorist.
