No matter which side of this "reform" you stand on, it's obvious (to me) that this bill has only served to divide the nation more. You can blame whoever you want but (IMO) nothing short of starting over (which the administration has firmly held it will not consider) will settle this. The views and opinions vary too greatly:

CNN article

November will be an interesting month for the 219 who voted yes.

I totally agree.

While "health care" (more appropriately insurance and drug companies) desperately need overhauling, this bad piece of legislature has literally been twisted and shoved down the throats of the American people who do *not* want it.

What remains to be seen is whether or not the hundreds of coming lawsuits and constitutional challenges mean it's all for naught. I don't believe the states will succeed in bypassing the "supreme law" clause of the constitution, but I similarly don't think it's constitutional for law to REQUIRE people to pay money out of their own pocket to private (or even public) interests for health insurance.

Time will tell, but it's certainly interesting. Wonder how the National Guard will feel about 300 million people rioting in the streets when it all collapses (as Social Security and Medicare already are)?

Maybe Fox will broadcast it, if they have not been shut down yet. Or maybe it will just be like Iran where only leaked cell phone videos make it on Youtube. If Obama is still in office, expect not only the national guard but the military firing on protestors and/or rioters.

My biggest question now is, where are all the ex-Americans going to immigrate to?

Ireland, if I can find a spot on a refugee boat.. :)

Last I heard they were temporarily accepting 3rd generation of Irish decent to apply for citizenship and if they did, their decedents could also apply. That was back in the 90's and my father did not take advantage, as he is 3rd generation Irish-American. This is all based on casual conversation, I haven't looked into it. I wonder what the law is now in Ireland...

Quick note: Ireland has a 'socialist' government-run healthcare system financed via federal taxes...

(If you choose to buy more expensive private health insurance instead, you can get a tax relief which is paid directly to your health insurance provider.)

It's got to be better than this monstrocity.

More taxes, more paperwork,

this "new entitlement" is going to kill small business.

Free housing, free medical care, free electric, free food, free cell phones, free internet access etc if you fall into the "poor" category. Tell me again why I am working?

Because you're one of the faithful?

You don't have to worry too much about that. The US and Canada already have an agreement in place whereby Canadian troops can be brought in for instances of civil unrest. This gets around the reluctance to shoot your own countrymen.

(The agreement is, of course, reciprocal).

Actually, most likely it'll be Chinese troops on the streets protecting their property, but health care won't be the cause of that. If the Republicans keep winning it their way, eventually the wealthy will take whatever is left, ditch the country and let the foreign powers take what's left.

Nothing, never mind. I really am tired of this. Democrats may be celebrating this victory, but I expect it will all be undone in due time thanks to well orchestrated fear mongering. After all, fear is the ultimate weapon against intellect.

A handful of democrat POLITICIANS are celebrating, the American people ARE NOT (republican or democrat). You don't have to look any further than this site to see democrats bitterly opposed to this horror show.

So was Social Security... So was Medicare... So was Equal Rights to women... So was giving blacks the vote... So were those guesses consistently WRONG.

So you changed positions now and are happy about the bill passing? Or am I reading too much into your statement?
