Absolute lunacy.
Indeed.
A sizeable chunk of Scottish society seem to be offended by everything but embarrassed by nothing.
This has been the case for decades but only in recent times has it become enshrined in crackpot laws.

-EDIT-
I'd add that, whilst I'm generally in favour of Scottish independence, the thought of these moon howlers being given complete control of the asylum does give me pause.

The merger between the CIA, the Democrats, Iraq war neocons, NBC, CNN, and the Washinton (Amazon) Post is a baleful predictor for US democracy.

The CIA Democrats: Part one

An extraordinary number of former intelligence and military operatives from the CIA, Pentagon, National Security Council and State Department are seeking nomination as Democratic candidates for Congress in the 2018 midterm elections. The potential influx of military-intelligence personnel into the legislature has no precedent in US political history.

If the Democrats capture a majority in the House of Representatives on November 6, as widely predicted, candidates drawn from the military-intelligence apparatus will comprise as many as half of the new Democratic members of Congress. They will hold the balance of power in the lower chamber of Congress.

“Count Dankula” Convicted for Hate Crime Over Teaching Pug Nazi Tricks

You have no right to be in a constant state of bliss, carrying about with nary a concern. You have no right to any kind of feeling, for that matter. You have no right to hear or see only that which you find pleasing. In short, you have no right to be a sensitive bitch baby. Yet the United Kingdom, a formerly great nation, convicted a man of a hate crime for daring to teach his girlfriend’s pug a trick. A trick some people found “offensive.” Pugs. Tricks. Let that sink in.

“Count Dankula” a YouTuber, wanted to annoy his girlfriend. And what’s more annoying than a Hitler loving anything? So he taught his girlfriend’s dog to respond to Nazi commands.

For which the real fascists, the UK’s authorities, will imprison him.

France moves to ban WikiLeaks from using French servers

Industry Minister Eric Besson wrote a letter to business and technology leaders on Friday calling for ways to ban WikiLeaks from using servers in France, local media reported.

"I ask you to indicate to me as soon as possible what action can be taken to ensure that this Internet site is no longer hosted in France," Besson wrote in the letter.

A deafening media silence on the Obama-Hezbollah scandal

Politico published a jaw-dropping, meticulously sourced investigative piece this week detailing how the Obama administration had secretly undermined US law enforcement agency efforts to shut down an international drug-trafficking ring run by the terror group Hezbollah. The effort was part of a wider push by the administration to placate Iran and ensure the signing of the nuclear deal.

Now swap out “Trump” for “Obama” and “Russia” for “Iran” and imagine the eruption these revelations would generate. Because, by any conceivable journalistic standard, this scandal should’ve triggered widespread coverage and been plastered on front pages across the country. By any historic standard, the scandal should elicit outrage regarding the corrosion of governing norms from pundits and editorial boards.

Yet, as it turns out, there’s an exceptionally good chance most of your neighbors and colleagues haven’t heard anything about it.

Days after the news broke, in fact, neither NBC News, ABC News nor CBS News — whose shows can boast a collective 20 million viewers — had been able to find the time to relay the story to its sizeable audiences. Other than Fox News, cable news largely ignored the revelations as well.

Most major newspapers, which have been sanctimoniously patting themselves on the back for the past year, couldn’t shoehorn into their pages a story about potential collusion between the former president and a terror-supporting state.

Perhaps if President Trump had tweeted about the story, outlets would’ve squeezed something in.

Even when outlets did decide to cover the story, they typically framed it as a he-said/she-said. “Politico Reporter Says Obama Administration ‘Derailed’ Hezbollah Investigation,” reads the NPR headline. Did Josh Meyer of Politico say something about Obama or did he publish a 14,000-word, diligently sourced, document-heavy investigative piece? If you get your news from NPR, you’d never know.

Fact is, the Drug Enforcement Agency began its classified investigation (called Project Cassandra) into Hezbollah in 2008. It found that the Iranian proxy had laundered nearly a half a billion dollars and was moving cocaine to the United States. According to Politico, the Obama administration not only threw obstructions in front of investigators but failed to prosecute major players in the enterprise.

What makes the media blackout particularly shameful is that the story isn’t a partisan hit job. It was written by a well-regarded journalist at a major outlet. The story has two on-the-record sources — which is more than we can say for the vast majority of so-called scoops about the Russian “collusion” investigation. One of these sources, David Asher, was an illicit finance expert at the Pentagon who was tapped to run the investigation. There’s no plausible reason to ignore him or the story.

What Liberal Bias? ESPN Plans Brand New Social Justice Morning Show

Despite claiming that it isn’t a “political” sports network, ESPN has announced that it plans to launch a brand new morning show geared to push a far left, social justice agenda.

The new show, to be called Get Up!, will air from 7 to 10 AM and will feature hosts Mike Greenberg, Michelle Beadle, and Jalen Rose, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

Apparently, ESPN is sinking big cash into this new “woke” morning show, too.

THR notes: “It’s a big, costly swing for the network, including leasing a 21,000-square-foot studio and office complex in Manhattan’s South Street Seaport and nearly $15 million in talent salaries ($6.5 million for Greenberg, 50; $5 million for Beadle, 42; and $3 million for Rose, 45, sources say).”

It is rather frightening though that sh*t-posting over there gets you thrown in jail.

It only seems to be getting worse, in the UK generally but particularly in Scotland (we have a separate legal system).
Stumbled across this on Twitter earlier, where Mr. Bean tried to warn us about it a few years back:

The New Law That Killed Craigslist’s Personals Could End the Web As We’ve Known It

The bill, euphemistically known as the "Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act," or FOSTA, was passed by the House of Representatives in late February. It's been largely portrayed by the media and those in Congress as an "anti-sex trafficking" measure. But while doing nothing to realistically fight sex trafficking, it manages to muck up all sorts of other serious things.

FOSTA will "subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully," Craigslist explains in the brief notice that now appears in place of potential partners if you try to go to a personals listing .

Under current law, the site can't be held legally liable if someone uses veiled terms to solicit commercial sex—aka prostitution—through the Craigslist personals. But FOSTA will change that, opening up Craigslist (and every other digital platform) to serious legal and financial jeopardy should it accidently "promote" or "facilitate" prostitution.

Prostitution, mind you, is not sex trafficking, which has a distinct meaning both colloquially and under the law. In the simplest terms, prostitution involves consent and sex trafficking does not.
