Ocasio-Cortez, for her part, is doing what she does best. She is playing the victim of bigotry and sexism. Pelosi and Schumer, being older and whiter than AOC, are falling into a trap they frequently try to use against Republicans. If this becomes a fight over identity politics, they are ill-suited to win.

The word out of Washington is that Pelosi and Schumer – Pelosi, in particular – are furious that AOC, Rashida Tlaib, and the rest of the freshman class are stealing the spotlight and doing dumb things with it. But, there is a growing number of Democratic voters who see Pelosi, Schumer, and the rest of the Democratic leadership as too centrist and not progressive enough, and those voters are siding with Bernie Sanders and AOC and Tlaib.
 
This barely gets reported anywhere in the dark corners of the interwebs, because she is a good little Marxist. Could you imagine if someone like Mitch McConnell used such a graphic sexual term? There would be 24/7/365 news coverage, Congressional hearings and rioting in the streets.

Maduro was elected again just last year - and the opposition parties refused to participate in the election at the suggestion of their US handlers on the grounds that they could use their non-participation later to claim that the election was illegitimate - and they asked international observers to stay away.

The sanctions are deliberately calibrated to cause suffering in the population just as the Iraq sanctions were (which killed half a million children, a cost which Albright said was "worth it").
The US has used bank sanctions to repeatedly block transfers of funds with which Venezuela was buying medicines and vaccines.

Foreign aid? Why would a Communist Utopia need foreign aid? Especially for the most oil rich country in the southern hemisphere? The same country that ~12 years ago was being propped up as a model for the rest of the world by American Liberals and other Globalists?

No, the US wasn't blocking foreign aid. The US was blocking the payments transfers from Venezuela of their own money to buy medicines just so that Venezuela couldn't get them. Venezuela had the money but because of US pressure the banks wouldn't process the payment to transact the purchase.

The US acknowledged first because this is a US orchestrated coup attempt. It's part of the plot. That is also why the "news" on Venezuela has been so counterfactual and so controlled in the US particularly but also in the 5 eyes countries. It's the same kind of thing as the "quality" information you guys got going into the Iraq war.

I'm not a supporter of Trump, I've just had sympathy for why people would vote for him, and agreements with several of his stated goals and some satisfaction in some of the things that have happened under his term so far. I also have huge disagreements - and also recognize that he isn't free to act as he wishes and must make certain trades to get a few of the things he wants and to prevent his kids lives being ruined. I'm actually just surprised he's still alive right now.

He is not at liberty to completely reverse the direction of the US that has persisted through multiple administrations. The US has, for decades, maintained the right to rule over South America since long before Reagan and Elliot Abrams' contras. The overthrow of Venezuela has been an ongoing project for decades. Remember the first coup attempt against Chavez back in 2002?

So what you are saying is you don't like the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela nor their National Assembly.

You sound like a certain friend of mine who continues to claim that Cuba is a Communist utopia, only pesky propaganda makes it look bad.
