Another study showing the poor quality of Fox viewers

A new survey of American voters shows that Fox News viewers are significantly more misinformed than consumers of news from other sources.
wow, really!?
that's funny and sad at the same time

Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's study of the stimulus package, which analyzed the stimulus package on job creation.

http://www.frbsf.org/publications/econo ... 0-17bk.pdf

the results indicate that many of these ARRA-generated jobs were short-lived, as the estimated employment impact fell to just 0.8 million (0.6% of pre-ARRA employment) by June 2010 and to essentially zero by August 2010.

No net job creation.

looks like 91% of the Fox viewers were correct :whack:

Looks like believing what your read on AlterNet makes you stupid

Some people like "news" that makes them feel good, like the other side is stupid, despite any real facts to back it up. Facts be damned.

In ranking, U.S. students trail global leaders

Scores from the 2009 Programme for International Student Assessment to be released Tuesday show 15-year-old students in the U.S. performing about average in reading and science, and below average in math. Out of 34 countries, the U.S. ranked 14th in reading, 17th in science and 25th in math.

Those scores are all higher than those from 2003 and 2006, but far behind the highest scoring countries, including South Korea, Finland and Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai in China and Canada.

In place of stupid it should say ignorant. It would be more accurate to say that stupid people watch Fox News. That isn't entirely fair either but it certainly attracts (and is designed to) a class of low brow uncritical viewership and it certainly never tries to awaken any curiosity in its viewers.

It is almost pointless to criticize Fox News for its shortcomings in the News department because that was never what it was about. It has been a very successful enterprise as a propaganda tool and it is well planned and well executed. You have to give it a certain amount of respect. Not only is it a propaganda machine but it makes a tidy little profit.

The hilarious part of "your study" is that the authors themselves are misinformed idiots.

What this study is, is a political paper pretending to be a scientific paper. The poll listed as “facts” things that are opinions, at this point in time, and then condemns those who don’t share their dubious opinions as stupid.

The only people who would believe this pseudo study are progressive fart sniffers who listen to MSNBC, NPR & PBS

I'll take that statement as an indication that you're a fan of Fox (or more properly Faux) News.

@Fluffy:
In place of stupid it should say ignorant.

Strictly speaking, you are correct, however:

In eight of the nine questions below, Fox News placed first in the percentage of those who were misinformed (they placed second in the question on TARP). That’s a pretty high batting average for journalistic fraud. Here is a list of what Fox News viewers believe that just aint so:

* 91 percent believe the stimulus legislation lost jobs
* 72 percent believe the health reform law will increase the deficit
* 72 percent believe the economy is getting worse
* 60 percent believe climate change is not occurring
* 49 percent believe income taxes have gone up
* 63 percent believe the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts
* 56 percent believe Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout
* 38 percent believe that most Republicans opposed TARP
* 63 percent believe Obama was not born in the U.S. (or that it is unclear)

I'm happy to accept the word, "stupid" :python:

? No, It makes you stupid, and besides MSNBC has the best record of accurately informing viewers!
# Do you watch MSNBC?
? Yes.

@Fade

All news outlets are propaganda organs that reflect the bias and values of their owners. That is why it is important to have many news organizations with many owners. That way you get many opinions.

In the US and increasingly throughout the world there are still many news outlets but very few owners. The opinions offered reflect a very small part of the population and increasingly reflect the opinions of the super rich. Journalists that don't toe the line don't work so even though journalists are often claimed to be more liberal than the general population they can't act it and still have jobs.

Fox is particularly venal being owned by the particularly venal Rupert Murdoch. It was Fox that started the practice of sending memos from top management telling journalists what spin was expected on the stories to be covered.

All news sources are biased, including Fox, or are you one of those who believe Fox News' own propaganda that it is "Fair and Balanced"?

# Why?
? Because it's important to understand and ensure in a society that news sources are accurate on the presentation and in turn fairly educate their viewership. To this end we survey groups in a variety of ways and multiple surveys tend to result in worse results for Fox News viewerships. In turn we post these on the internet.
# But these are survey's which are pretty indefensible because they're from liberal universities. Who as you know have their own agenda.
? We don't need to. We simply post them and watch while the Republicans piss all over themselves trying to defend their stongholds. Then we laugh because in the end the conservatives try to build the excuxe of how this all is a liberal conspiracy
# As you know facts are just opinions and all this is but a ... oh shit.

FIXED.

Graded answers:

* 91% believe the stimulus legislation lost jobs ===+ true! except for union members, who got obama kickbacks
* 72% believe the health reform law will increase the deficit ===> true! democrats never passed a budget this year to hide that problem with health reform
* 72% believe the economy is getting worse ===> true!
* 60% believe climate change is not occurring ===> Is man-made global warming is occuring? ===>No! Does the weather change ===> yes!
* 49% believe income taxes have gone up ===> depends on who got hit with targeted tax increases
* 63% believe the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts ===> must be hidden in the free condom stimulus packages
* 56% believe Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout ==> Obama initiated changing the bailout terms to payoff his union buddies, therefore True!
* 38% believe that most Republicans opposed TARP ==> true! just not all the ones in office then, hence replacements now
* 63% believe Obama was not born in the U.S.? ===> I'll give you that one, as soon as you show his actual birth certificate to confirm it, and BTW the US should store ALL its state secrets the same place Obama keeps his birth certificate and his college transcripts.

faethor sniffs his farts

That depends on who you think the economy should serve. The folks in the middle class and below are suffering. The middle class is being completely squeezed out. The guys at the top are having a great time though. People in the income brackets of the likes of Rush L. and Bill O. and continue to make scads of money and the Murdoch's of the world continue raking in the lolly and JP Morganites and Goldman-Sachsists roll in piles of green.

However, one the Republicans get back into hollowing out the middle class and crushing the poor we will hear on Fox that the economy IS improving. That's just the way the game is played. Politics is a team sport but it's not just about who plays the best. It's also important to own the ref.

* 60% believe climate change is not occurring ===> Is man made global warming is occuring? ===>false!
Since CO2 is a greenhouse gas and humans are the greatest contributor of this gas to the atmosphere and we have increased the CO2 content of the atmosphere it is simple fact that humans are a major contributor to warming. What is less clear is what are all the contributors to cooling. That other effects are in play does not nullify our effects. I am not a TV news watcher myself but I read a great deal from pro and anti sources but in aggregate it still looks like the pro side has the preponderance of evidence.
* 56% believe Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout ==> Obama initiated changing the bailout terms to payoff his union buddies, therefore True!

As a contracting party the Union deserves as much consideration as any other corporation. Monies paid to the union go to the middle class - squeezing the union squeezes the middle class again moving wealth up. It is the destruction of the unions that has done the most to turn the US into a banana republic.

I want to know how this conspiracy works. How many people are involved and by what means and agencies has the ruse been initiated and maintained?

ROFL Just look for the word "unexpectedly" in news reports headlines about the economy since Obama has been in office! Then tell me about who's slanting the reporting.

Non sequitur logic

Is the planet hotter because there is more atmospheric CO2 or there is more atmospheric CO2 because the planet is hotter?

So if a planets atmosphere were to increase to, lets say above 90% atmospheric CO2 you would have a green house trapping all the heat?

Do they deserve preferential treatment to the bond holders? bankruptcy law says no. Under bankruptcy law all creditors are prioritized, the Unions jumped to the front of the line, with Obama's help, just as they are now at the front of the line for the IPO.

There are Sooooo many steps between the story and you, including the guy that signs the cheques. There's the the involvement of "the Jews", Big Corporations, JP Morgan, Goldman-Sachs, Monsanto, the CIA, the Mossad, MI5, Fox News, The Bilderbergs, Skull & Bones, Trilateral Commission, ...

the State of Hawaii released Obama's birth certificate. THEY think he was born there. is some asshole actually saying the STATE of Hawaii is part of some weirdo conspiracy?
