Fake News

How do the Republicans feel now knowing they voted for a socialist?

The automotive companies should not have received a bailout to begin with. That's on equal parts Bush Jr and Obummer, not on Trump. How can he realistically punish them outside saying mean things? Rolling back Federal Tax breaks? No problem here. No companies should be given preferential treatment. I don't know what else he could do. It's likely just harsh words.

I think he mentioned import tariffs on finished cars or some such. I don't know if he has the power. Just badmouthing them to his base may be economically impactfull though.

New York Times Columnist on Trump Supporters: ‘Maybe They’re Just Bad People’

That’s the title of her latest column for the Times, in which Goldberg speculates that the energy spent by liberal political analysts trying to explain why intelligent people would support, or work with, President Donald Trump may be wasted, since the simplest explanation — one that may fit the prejudices of Times readers — is that they are just evil.

Goldberg begins her column with a story about an aide to Christian activist Ralph Reed “performing oral sex on a future member of the George W. Bush administration during the 2000 primary.”

Having suitably demeaned Trump aides and supporters with that “slut-shaming” anecdote, Goldberg extends the analogy to those in President Donald Trump’s political circle

"Why do attacks on the US media - calling it "Fake News" - resonate so widely? Because of utterly fabricated and reckless articles like this one from @politico, by a former *CIA officer allowed to write under a "pen name"*. The whole thing is a fraud:"

Its kind of funny how much we used to argue, but now agree. The interwebs in general, but more so whistle-blowers like Wikileaks, Project Veritas and others have been the great equalizer.

Don't want to pollute the dead celeb thread, so posting here.

I find it somewhat breathtaking how all of a sudden, most of Hollywood and the mainstream Liberal Media are pretending to be lifetime fans of George HW Bush. They did this revisionist history when Reagan died, and they all hated Bush Sr even worse than Reagan! Their venom was not quite Trump venom, but it was bad and targeted. It's looking like the trend will continue through at least one more Republican president. I'm willing to bet at this point, in 10-20 years when Bush Jr dies, they'll pretend like they always loved him too.

Yup. Always amazes me too. It's part of the code, I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the vast majority are being respectful. It just bugs me that they are going beyond respectful into gushy "we always loved him like a BFF" territory which is obviously BS. I disliked Bill Clinton as a person and a president, but I respect the office of the presidency and I respect it is a difficult no-love job. When Bill Clinton (and Obama if I'm still alive) passes, I'll be respectful. I won't retro actively pretend like I was always loved him.

I guess Jimmy Carter will be soon behind. I think he was an obvious disaster as a president, but I think his heart was actually in the right place. I'll probably be genuinely sad when he passes.

You old softy.
Yes, Jimmy has been a remarkable man over his whole life. I have a lot of respect for him.

“Fact-Checking Site” Snopes Blatantly Lies About Viral Anti-Republican Photo That Was Already Debunked

But Snopes fact-checker Bethania Palma, a former writer for liberal website Raw Story, fact-checked the meme three weeks later and claimed it was accurate.

Palma rated it “true” that “The Congressional seats of almost three dozen Republicans who voted to repeal Obamacare were lost to Democrats in 2018” — a different claim than what the picture alleged, much less its “primary” claim.

“In the meme, red ‘X’ marks were drawn through the faces of 33 lawmakers who purportedly were rejected by voters in the 6 November 2018 midterm elections,” Palma wrote.

Both that claim and Palma’s summary of it were inaccurate.

Not everyone in the photo with an “X” over their face was a lawmaker — a fact left out of Palma’s fact-check. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Seema Verma, for example, had an “X” over her face even though she’s not an elected official.

Moreover, many of the lawmakers who did have an “X” over their face won re-election.

CNN says Climate Change Causing ‘More Animal Attacks’ on Humans

Just days after CNN claimed climate change was a leading factor behind the Central American migrant caravan, the network now believes global warming is directly causing more “animal attacks” against humans.

“Animal-related injuries lead to health care costs of more than $1 billion a year in the United States, according to a new study — and they’re happening more often,” writes CNN.

“The rate of all animal attack injuries has increased over the past 10 years, according to Dr. Joseph Forrester, one of the authors of the study published Tuesday in the BMJ. He anticipates that it will continue to rise, partially because of climate change,” adds the author.

Meet the Left-Wing Troll Who Creates Fake News to Expose Conservative 'Stupidity'

“The mission with the trolling first and foremost is we pull them into the comments section” he says.

It's then that he starts on the offensive. The faker becomes the exposer, weeding out and reporting the most extreme users among his fans. … “We’ve had people fired from their jobs,” he says. “We’ve exposed them to their families. Say what you want about me being a monster. I’m pretty proud.”
