Surprisingly unshitey advice, but really aimed at non-msm sources, which are generally easier to weed out. What's harder is when fake news is laundered through "respectable" or "credible" news organisations - which just seems to happen too damn often for them to remain credible.After Trump's little "fake news" faux pas, Ch4 have offered their own guide:
Areas that are left out here which indicate to me fake/strongly agenda-ed/propagandist news are emotive language (phrases like 'Hitler', 'nazi' or 'terrorist' (not that nazis and terrorists don't exist - but folks like to stretch those words to smear), rape, or extreme descriptions of cruelty - emotive language is used to bypass your rational mind. It is hard to be scared, horrified, angry etc, at the same time as rational.
Also, read the whole article. The actual facts are often saved for the last column inch. Also, important to check that the story matches the headline before you share! A lot of headlines are misleading.
