Ah, but they don't. That's just something someone made up. On the other hand, what I said is completely true. They really do believe in a magical sky spirit. That's what the storybook says so that's what they believe - evidence be damned.

$15T dollars debt doesn't really exist. It is a management construct, not a true accounting of value and obligation. Just in terms of the almost $1T in TARP, at that level of capital infusion the federal government should get to own those institutions, replace the board of (elite) governors, and throw the CEOs out into the real world were they can try to find work flipping burgers where they'll do less harm.
Then all the garbage assets should have been renegotiated down by large haircuts or defaulted on entirely which would have screwed more elites. Some people reckon this would have hurt regular people but regular people hold almost none of the assets that would have been wiped out. Elites hold 90% of that stuff. Regular folk have more saved up in Social Security than they do in exotic instruments. The gamblers would have had to eat their losses, the banks under new directors could have been directed to start encouraging economic growth (instead of promoting their own growth which is what they did with the TARP money) and the government would have been able to manage a productive asset to pay off the stimulus spent on them.
Of course, there's another consideration to be made when you are a realist and that is, can you stick it to the elites that hard and expect to live long.

He could be claiming to be religious - that would be a form of realism - the acknowledgement that you can hardly get into public office in the US if you are openly atheist. Generally and historically the ruling classes have been less religious than the laity but they understand they have to play up the god talk because the "people" like it and it also reinforces their own power.

The world is a better off with people believing in the magical sky spirit who's central teaching is the "Sermon on the Mount" then "reality based" idiots looking for messianic political saviors. John "two Americas" Edwards in 2004, now Barrack "The One" Obama. "reality based" idiots filling the vacuum of traditional religion with faddish cultural substitutes does not make the world a better place.

The Progressive poop only works with the American public when things are going well or the GOP totally screws up. When things get very bad, Americans will recognize poop for what it is and that is why Obama is in such deep trouble already. That is before the European recession takes it's toll on the American economy. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see a significant "Dump Obama!" movement at Charlotte.
